anyone know anything about North American Airlines

pay
work rules
#of pilots
#of airplanes
worth working there
rumors
bases
ect..

thanks in advance

I have a buddy who just got hired there and will be in the next class.

From what he's told me and from what I can remember...

Pay is $50/hr for FO's. Anything over 67 hours is paid at time and one half.

Sounds like a bunch of ex-National pilots are working there. My buddy said that they seem to be looking for pilots who have flown the 757 or 767 within the past 3 years. I think this allows them to put the newhire through an accelerated groundschool/simulator training.

It sounds like a good place to work. Upgrade is currently running just over a year (of course that will change!). Read a few weeks ago where they will be starting a once per week trip from BOI and GEG to HNL.

No more 737-800's...just 757's and 767's.

Good luck! They seem like a good bunch over there.

I heard everyone in the class for next month already had the type. This makes the training cheaper, and accelerated.

Are you guys hearing any rumors, like a merger with World? We hear some low level rumors about you guys. Specifically because of aircraft type.

We have not heard that one but, I would not be to surprised if something like that happened. NAA has lost a few contract lately (military and vacation charter). They are trying more scheduled service (big mistake).

Dan McKinnon has been trying to sell the company for years. He is in his mid seventies and this downturn is wearing on him. He has even imposed a 20% paycut on all employees, effective November 1st.

This is not the industry that I signed up for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12 more years to retirment and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Scheduled Service- The Toll Free Number for reservations is (800) FLYNAA2. Expedia.com (in addition to Travelocity.com) is also now “online” selling NAA flights. Scheduled Service is planned to start:

a. 11/4 OAK-OGG

b. 11/6 OAK-HNL

c. 11/18 OAK-MEX

d. 11/18 OAK-CUN

$99.00 Introductory Fares- We are offering $99.00 O/W + Taxes

The future at NAA looks optimistic and the pay cut is just another rumor.at least for now (By the way, it is Nov 1st today).
NAA has its eggs in separate baskets, some will brake and some will hatch.

I heard a B777 rumor (ex-BA) at NAA.

Cheers,
Duder

So, are you guys getting that or is it just an application? Hope you do, some of my TWA homies are at NAA.TC

TC:

It just the application and supporting documents. From what I have heard American, Northwest, United and I think Continental also applied. We are crossing our fingers on this long shot. It could make the company! If you want to help, write you Congressmen and tell them you support North American Airlines' application for China routes!

PS. I know many of your TWA friends. They are, as a group, the best pilots (both skill wise and attitude) that I have ever flown with!

50$ an hour??....that's it? What do their pay scales look like for year 2, 3, 4?

What can a Captain expect-----please tell me something over 100/hour?

why is everyone so money hungry? why can't people stop b**ching about money and be happy they have a job....even at 50 an hour i would be happy on a 75 or 76. that's what really makes this industry suck...pilots saying they dont make 150,000 a yr.....stop b**ching.

56 an hour is first year pay....... not bad if you ask me!
Maybe you can name me another 2 or 3 airlines that start you at 56 an hour, full FREE health and dental 401k...etc etc

And yes Captains make over 100G a year Some have made it to the 170+ level. Not great but the "Majors" are rapidly closing the gap!

no, that is why the industry is in a "Race for the Bottom". People willing to fly for 40 something an hour....just for the sake of flying. Someday when you are a Captain and your trying to negotiate a contract for 300 something, your company will say "Why should I pay that when Capts at XXX Airlines get paid 120/hr for flying the same jet"

That's why I wanted to know what the rates were after the first year and for Capt.

Here are our pay rates. They're not that high, so go ahead and tell us how we're making the industry go to the bottom. We're currently in negotiations to get to your high levels and standards, but the company is not cooperating. I guess your next solution is that we all walk out.
I don't know many people here who fly for what we make "just for the sake of flying." Everyone that I know does it because no money = no food and shelter.

Believe it or not, I'm a strong advocate of getting our work rules and pay up to the industry standards, but that has to be done through negotiations. We're newly unionized and working on our first contract. That makes a huge difference. I have no idea where you work, but if it's so great that you can sling mud at us, then that means that you have had contracts before that were used as stepping stones.
