Nonrev on Airtran ATL-FPO

The other possible vacation idea that I had was going down to Freeport, Bahamas via Airtran. Just wondering how the loads are generally from ATL to FPO and back to ATL on that run. Also, would I be allowed to ride on the jumpseat up front (I'm with Air Wisc.) or is that not allowed since it is an international flight? If any of the Air Tran guys could let me know I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Well, if AirTran doesn't work, I suggest you come down to FLL, PBI or MIA and catch Gulfstream (Continental Conection). We have plenty of flights a day to FPO and many other destinations in the Bahamas. We usually take as many jumpseaters as we can. The real advantage is the amount of flights that we send out there, so if you get bumped of of one, the next one leaves usually an hour later...


Unless you are planning on gambling, may I suggest you go to the outer islands instead? The beaches are a lot better. If you want the best of both, then NAS is for you.

at expressjet we have one flight a day from ewr-fpo..we also take unlimited jumpseaters.

ASA out of Atlanta also has one or two flights a day to FPO. You can only ride in the back, but its worth a shot. Another advantage is ASA and Airtran are on the same concourse in ATL to make it easier on you.

Thanks for the help so far guys. Im not too concerned about myself getting there and back since I can be flexible with my travel arrangements. its the wife im worried about. the thing that sucks the most is that we are suppose to give our staff travel department 2 weeks notice before we plan on any nonrev travel, so its kind of hard to make any plans. do you ExpressJet and ASA guys know if ID90s/passes can be purchased at the ticket counter for you spouse? that would help a little. at least there would be a little flexibility.

Yup, ASA reservations are handled by Delta so you can go to any Delta ticket counter and take care of it...

AirTran also has direct flights from BWI, and direct flights to BWI from other places in the US, so if ATL-FPO is full, or if you don;t live in ATL, you may want to look into BWI-FPO on us.

Well from some folks that I know that have tried to JS on UP (Bahamasair) If you do not have an agreement they will deny you.

I would say it's a 50/50 chance depending if the Captain cares about an agreement or not.

Hell, Gulfstream/CO Connection can take you there. Service to Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay, New Bight, Georgetown, N. Eleuthera, Governor's Harbour. All beautiful places to go if NAS or FPO is not your thing.
