When we go to ASE or EGE we sometimes have problems getting slots (usually because the fractionals request a ton of generic slots). What we usually do is file to somewhere nearby that doesn't require slots and then cancel and go VFR over to ASE or EGE. Of course this is assuming the wx is not an issue. I am sure the controllers don't like it. We haven't had any problems, but wondered if anyone else has.

I've flown with cheeseballs who like to do that; try to loophole their way around the system. It's garbage flying.

Get the slot and go...or stay out.

That's the purpose of having slots. EGE has more ramp space than ASE...but it's still a busy place, and you really should follow the system like everybody else.

Same for Sun Valley.

yup, running around aspen, canceling and trying to squeeze in VFR....sounds like a real good idea....

The slots are there for a reason, if you cant get a slot why not just go to Grand Junction or Eagle?

It may be "legal" but its just not smart and is "garbage flying" like avbug says..

And if thats how you are going to operate just do it very carefully!!! The success rate of corp jets sneaking into KASE VFR is not too great.

The way I look at it --- they just dont pay me enough to be a "hero"...

;)
