Benny Baldanza (Spirit's CEO) is doing everything he can to make Spirit the bottom of the barrel among low-cost airlines. How can Spirit compete against JB on the East Coast on competing routes when JB offers more comfortable seats and IFE? Will the airfares be that much lower than those of competing carriers on the commodity NY-FL routes? Doubt it. Southwest will be considered "premium" when compared to Spirit in the near future...
One of the resolutions unanimously adopted by the MEC this afternoon reads as follows:
"The United Airlines MEC emphatically supports the Spirit Air pilots and their Master Executive Council efforts in obtaining a fair and reasonable CBA and endorses the Spirit pilots’ efforts if they conduct a labor strike in obtaining a fair and reasonable CBA."
This is a very good maneuver by Michael O'Leary to generate more revenue, he can install high top tables with fixed bar stools and people will think they are in the pub and buy more drink at €7/drink and as always when you drink you have to eat, can you say “Ryan’s Wings” (extra spicy)please.
