shouldnt all Mesa threads be in the MAJOR section? Or since they're adding all new sections, maybe they should just add a whole new section, just for MESA.

My understanding was that it was basically a carrot to sucker people into working there.

My guess is they either got there fill of saps or determined that most would quit when they found out the truth.

I stand corrected.

................still more saps out there.

Look to see if the interviewer is crossing his/her fingers behind their back as they paint a rosy picture of Mesa utopia.

Good luck at ToiletAir.

Are they luring folks in with that promise and then changing it once they except?

Supposedly they don't offer you the CA slot until after training. I would be VERY cautious of this unless you're just desperate for a job.

This is true , I asked when I was called for that street captian gig they told me they are hiring you to be a pilot for them......if you are qualified.....they MAY offer you a captian postion.......lol good luck to that!!! I told them no thanks!

One of my buddies just got hired there. Said that they offered him street captain. He declined it to be closer to home in the 1900, but at least for him, they offered it after the interview and before training.

Wow lot of misinformation here. They just had a class couple of weeks ago. D-8 Captain slots were given fisrt day of class. if you can make it through, fast easy PIC turbine. If you dont like PIC time out the gate then go to one of those other career commuters with the great pay scales and work rules. I think they may be finished with the street captain thing now though. lots of luck to all.

DHC-8 street CAs who were hired in Feb 2004 (2.5 YEARS AGO) are STILL sitting Denver airport ready reserve for 10 hours at a stretch, 8 days off a month. LOL. Not sure how that's easy turbine time.

Those are Mesa DHC-8 pilots flying under the Mesa certificate. Delta approached Mesa to fly 12 DHC-8's under the Freedom certificate out of JFK. This almost doubles their fleet. Hardly any Mesa DHC-8 pilots bid for Freedom DHC-8. Therefore, they had to hire off the street to staff that (Freedom, DHC-8, JFK) flying.

Those 2.5 year CA could bid over to Freedom if they wanted to for some sweet seniority, (some have as Check Airmen) but they are planted in the cheaper West away from the center of the universe (A.K.A. New York City).

The LAST class of Freedom DHC-8 street CA class has been started (35, I believe. Some are FO's). Mesa is so desperate for CA on the Freedom DHC-8 that they are stopping short of threatening all ATP qualified Freedom DHC-8 FO's to upgrade to CA as a new-hire.

2-3 DHC-8 100's are flying now 9-10 more are on the way in various stages of maint.

I wouldn't call it easy PIC turbine either. Wash-out rate for Street CA is ~50%. Mostly due to some FAA approved shortcuts in the training process. Which is only slightly ironic as the classes have had many weeks of paid vacation b/n G.S. and Sim and IOE.

There is a massive backup in training because there are only 2-3 A/C for IOE and consolidation of line qualified pilots; until more A/C arrive of course.

Stay tuned . . .
