You guys are aware that UAUA sucks right now. Not exactly sure what's to cheer about UA hiring.

Things aren't exactly the best over there.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Before you get too excited ask yourself these questions:

1. How long do I want to sit on reserve?

2. How long before I can hold the base I want?

3. Do I want to commute - it will be inevitable at some point along your career with a major.

4. Will UAL remain solvent in 5, 10, 15, or 20 years and beyond?

5. How many passed up recall - why?

6. What QOL will I have to sacrafice for a career with UAL (or any other major) and am I willing to give up those facets just to fly a "big jet"?

7. What is the pay schedule - will it meet your expectations?

Just do your due diligence so you're sure you make the right decision here.

IDIOT...putting fear in people never helps. Been there done that mergers will happen get a seat now.

Sounds like something to consider at every place in this business.

I would need a solid plan as a stand alone carrier from the CEO himself with some future airplane orders to get me to work there. Anything short of that, there is no way in hell I would join the bottom of the seniority list. I think UA still has a plenty of assets to turn to a good profit but the sad part is, nobody is intered in running a tight ship. Instead of innovating the airline to something that people would choose to fly, it sits and waits to see if this industry would take the course of merger frenzy. Think about it, he wants to merge, consolidate, cashout and run!

Glad to see it only took a few posts to get into name calling. I can only imagine where this thread will end up by the end of next week.

UAL at one point was losing $5M per day. How the heck didn't they go out of bussiness? This solidified my position that because United didn't liquidate during BK then United will probably outlive me.
