Really? What part of "comply with crew member instructions" don't YOU understand? I'm willing to bet she told him nicely several times but FAs get real pissed when they are ignored or blown off, ESPECIALLY by frequent fliers who know better but think they're more special than every other passenger.

Betting on FA's telling passengers nicely! let me know what you want to wager. That would be the easiest money I ever make.

By the way frequent fliers are hypothetically more special than your average customer - which is why they are given certain privileges. But I guess that fact is lost on you.

When the judge rams a paycut down your throat you should tell him, "But I supported my nice FAs... I just can't understand why passengers flock to the foreign carriers"

MORON.

BTW, complying with FARs has very little to do with customer service. I guess you just outed yourself as a pilot who can't or won't back your FAs up. Niiiiice
Thank God the AA Captain on that flight had a set of balls and did the right thing. It's good to know there are still some men left in the cockpit. It's a dying breed, for sure.

If my FAs are a rude and offensive bunch, you're right - I will not back them up. Complying with FARs has everything to do with customer service. FAs can request passengers to comply or act as seatbelt and cellphone nazis. Its how you ask that matters.

As for the AA captain having balls -yeah the way he handled it was beautiful Just what the company needs by way of PR at the moment.

Happy Flying. Remember to back up your FAs in bankruptcy court.

I just want to know if Baldwin used the tried and true Hollywood "Don't you know who I am?" routine.

You think frequent fliers are entitled to "special privileges" as far as FARs are concerned? Methinks you need to go back to the schoolhouse. There are NUMEROUS announcements, both live and on tape, advising pax to turn off ALL electronic devices. I'm also pretty certain it wasn't his first time on an airplane. Soooo, he should have known better. I've seen the behavior he exhibited hundreds of times on every flight I've ever been on. Some yahoo thinks he's more special than everyone else and the "stupid rules" don't apply to him/her.

Do you REALLY think continuing to play a game on your phone is sooo important that it warrants his temper tantrum? Did you read the report of how he got up from his seat WHILE THE SEATBELT SIGN WAS ON, WENT TO THE LAV AND SLAMMED THE DOOR SO HARD THE PILOTS HEARD IT AND CALLED BACK TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. (all so he could contine to play a game on his phone). Did he plan on locking himself in and staying there for taxi, take-off, the entire flight and landing just to continue a word game? Oh, btw, he also was cursing at the FA being a total scumbag around the other pax. Yeah, that's a Threat Level 1 in my book and if he had been Joe Schmo passenger instead of a "celebrity" he'd have been met by airport police and escorted off. To compound his totally unacceptable behavior he tweets about it insulting both the FA and the airline. He STILL hasn't apologized (not that anyone would think he was being sincere.) He is a total ass-clown and hope AA bans him forever and removes his stupid show from their entertainment line-up.

Jesus, and I thought Alec was stupid.....

Since you're all about customer service, how many times should a FA ask a passenger to comply with a FAR? Once, twice, ten times...for an hour? Should FAs ask the passenger who is so self-important or engrossed in some bull******************** on their iphone or laptop ask them how long they need to finish up? Should flights be delayed in the name of "customer service?" Your attitude tells me that YOU are exactly the same type of a-hole as Alec was when YOU'RE a passenger. Gotta love a crew member who thumbs their nose at the rules while riding as a passenger. Now, THAT's a sure way to win friends.

The same FAR argument again. No one is saying FARs can be violated by frequent fliers but FAs need to understand that it is a customer service business and not CONAIR.

Alec Baldwin has had the last laugh on this incident - one that could easily have been avoided. Its a PR nightmare for American. But then of course the crew will never understand that. Why stop at banning Baldwin. Lets ban all passengers from the airlines - that way life would be so much nicer wouldn't it. Unfortunately the business doesn't work like that sonny.

Lighten up Zonejumper! You don't want to have a heart attack over this.

As for the skit, got a good laugh out of it

Perhaps you guys should look at it from the perspective of the F/As. They have a tough job, especially when dealing with "privileged" pax.

If they want someone 86ed, I'm with them not with the "golds." Especially if they violate Level 1 of the security protocols.

You screw with my F/As, you're off...period end of story.
