Did anyone hear that a NetJets Citation V landing at HPN last evening didn't stop on the runway, but went into the mud, with the nosegear collapsing? Surprised this hasn't been announced anywhere, HPN was closed for at least 4 hours last night until the Citation was removed and (presumably) towed into NetJets' own hangar at HPN.

Plane mishap closes county airport

Corporate jet with 6 aboard skids off runway; no injuries
HARRISON, NY — A corporate jet carrying four passengers and two crew members from Nantucket was damaged last night when it slid 150 feet off the runway at Westchester County Airport. No one was injured, but the mishap slightly after 6 p.m. shut down all flights into and out of the airport for most of the evening.
The twin-engine Cessna Citation V is owned by NetJets, the fractional ownership company that has a hangar at the airport, said Lawrence Salley, commissioner of the county Department of Transportation. Efforts to reach the company were unsuccessful last night.
Many travelers were stranded for a few hours on the snowy night until incoming flights resumed shortly before 10 p.m., after the Citation was towed. Flights began to depart about an hour later.
'I think people are more aggravated that we have to wait," said 20-year-old Jamie Rohrer of Ridgefield, Conn., who planned to sleep at the airport to catch a flight this morning.
Rohrer's US Airways plane, bound for Washington, D.C., was on the tarmac waiting to de-ice when the accident occurred. Like passengers on several other planes, Rohrer and the other passengers on her plane had to walk across the snowy ramp back to the main building. Rohrer said she had to sleep at the airport because her flight would not leave until 6:20 a.m. today.
Pete Scherrer, the assistant manager of the airport, said all six people left the aircraft on their own after the accident. All flights were stopped at 6:19 p.m., he said, because the aircraft could not be towed until permission was given to do so by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, which is conducting an investigation into the incident.
A message left with the FAA was not returned last night. The NTSB did not have any information yet on the accident.
NetJets began selling jet shares in 1986 when its aircraft first taxied into Westchester County Airport. In 2004, the company opened its leased airport hangar for business after a $3.5 million renovation.
Diane Merovitch, a Mount Vernon English teacher who lives in Somers, was among the stranded travelers. She was taking Delta Flight 505 to Cincinnati to catch a connecting flight to Memphis, Tenn., to meet friends. Her plane, too, was on the tarmac waiting for de-icing when the accident occurred.
'They took us off the plane," Merovitch said. She said she saw fire engines racing acorss the runway as passengers were walking back to the main building. She said she would have to wait a long time for another flight, so she canceled her trip. 'We'll have to do this another time," Merovitch said.
Kendall Storm of White Plains was traveling with her 12-year-old son, Jeremy, to a national ski championship in Park City, Utah. After the Delta flight was canceled, Storm said it took about two hours to get their luggage. Delta was able to put her son on another flight but did not have a seat for his mother. At one point, a Delta representative asked a county police officer to remove Kendall Storm from his desk. The representative could not find a seat for her on her son's flight. The officer calmed the situation.
'He (Jeremy) is extremely disappointed at this point," said Storm's husband, Elliot, as he watched the events unfold.
Late last night, Delta put the mother and son on a flight today to Cincinnati from LaGuardia.

Nice job boyz.

Sometimes, bad things happen to good people. It could have been anyone of us. Count your blessing and protect your certificate.

Interesting choice for a third post, now back in your hole.

You can say what you want about the pilots at NetJets, but all that I've flown with know their stuff . . . unlike anywhere else I've flown. I don't know what happened, heard rumors, saw the weather, and have my own ideas as to what may have happened. This might be you on your next flight - becareful out there.
