interesting. i guess it's true - you aren't under the CBA until you are employees. so hmm...just thinking out loud...if you get fired while on the road, does the company book your travel home?

Oh, man, how much would that stink! Getting your own taxi from BFE to BFI Int'l Airport, to buy your own ticket home. Ouch. But I almost guarantee you'd find a more economical way to get there than they would! :D

Of course, my previous employer (a commuter airline) did pretty much the same thing to me: When I called in sick in the middle of a trip, they said, "OK, we'll have somebody else finish the trip." When I inquired about how I was going to get home, the scheduler said, "you're on your own" and hung up on me. Nice, huh?

Not always the case but most IOE will start on the start days of your fleet and last all week to optimize the IOE instructors time and get you done ASAP. So, when possible your IOE will start on one of the fleet start days for the 7/7 schedule.

I was in class last October and there were many in my class that were airlined to and from indoc from their home airport not their domicile.

That boils my blood since I was told I couldn't do that... Ended up driving from CT to PBI to catch my flight to CMH. I haven't heard of anyone winning a grievance from the Co because of this. I didn't press the issue because I wasn't even in class yet, I just asked if it was possible, LL said no, I said okay. End of conversation. I did meet the guys that drove from home to CMH, but it would be a longer drive from CMH to PBI as opposed to CT to PBI. Plus I got to visit "South of the Border!!"

When I went to Indoc back in Sept/06, I drove to it and I live in Tucson,AZ. THey gave me no hassles but said they would not repay any gas or fees. They will buy you tickets to from your home to Indoc and back to home at the end. Then from that point on, you have to go thru your domicile. I knew we would hvae at least 2-3 weeks off after Indoc due to backups at the time and I told them this is why I chose to drive. No problem from them at all. Hope this helps.

The company will fly you to and from whatever airport you like for your first training event. Whichever training that is, sim or indoc. Every thing after that you need to start out of your base.

The dumb thing is, say you are given a brief to airline to DEN to start your tour and you live in DEN. The company will make you go to your base and then airline back to DEN to start. There are a lot of goofy stories like this. Some involving a big waste of money and time. Get used to it, make note, and bring it up at next negotiation metting.:D
