Nice! Looks like it's going to continue to shrink. Nothing to replace the ATR and losing a few 200's and of the course the 700's to SW.

Certainly to time to get out the business of flying airplanes. Like the job, hate how the business is conducted.

Possible newhire classes by 2007. Displacement bid will be out this week (more people to LAX?). I am going to Disney Land! I am going to Disney Land!

Not like it really matters at this point but we actually gain (2) crj-200's loose 12 ATR's and loose 12 CRJ-700.

Hey Gojet is hiring street CAPT for the CRJ-700 you only need 4000TT let's GO!!!!

What great news.

1- Reduced cost in mx, ramp and crew training by eliminating the ATR and streamling to an all Jet single manufacturer fleet.

2- No training classes means a reduction in cost to the company for associated new hire training expenses

3- Reduction in pilot need and increase in attrition means a reduction in company cost due to company healthcare and benefit contribution.

[/sarcasm/]

Now the company is in such a better financial situation due to our downsizing, we should finally be able to come to an agreement on our outstanding contract issues.

As Napolean Dyanmite would say..." YESSSSSSSSS"

Where Is Alpa????????????????????????

What, doesn't your status rep have a phone number? Give him a call and find out exactly what part of your CBA is being violated by a reduction in airframes. Certainly yours must be the only company to ever reduce airframes and have displacements.

It was a nice day to release this CT. Five years ago today my career went to crap. Thanks for the reminder. ASA Sucks

It says it's a projected fleet plan. This could still be all smoke and mirrors as far as I'm concerned. Another little scare tactic. I really don't see the very profitable ATR being gone in 1 year. Didn't they say this last year? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless if this is a management threat, or the real deal, it's not going to influence 92% of our pilots here to settle for a subpar contract.

Once we are all in the unemployment line you hard asssses will still be saying that it's just smoke and mirrors........

Don't knock the unemployment line. It's good fun. See you there.

This just makes me care even less about the success of the company. If they want to apply downward pressure on my quality of life I'm going to be less inclined to help make the system work. As it stands now I can barely summon the strength to lift the mike and ask for fuel when we are already past departure time. Next step is radio silence.

The way I look at it is, it's the people in the back that pay our salaries. Therefore, I will do everything in my power to take care of them and give them a safe, comfortable and on time flight. It is certinaly not their fault that the middle man (ASA) runs a poor operation. With out the people in the back, we would not fly. I know someone is going to say we are fee for departure, so I will go ahead and say that Delta is not going to pay for an empty flight very long.

However, I will NOT pick up open time or do the company any favors.

And, I will tell you where the union is... ALPA national justs wants our $$, better hope our elected reps do the right thing and give national the middle finger when necessary.

So if they start furloughing, do you think it will make it all the way to Scott Hall, being that his seniority is only at 1500 or so. If im on the street before him I'll go postal!!!!!!!!

Bingo. There are way too many rumors and RFPs out there to believe that we are going to shrink. The biggest word in this letter, the one that should be highlighted, underlined and italicized is "CURRENT" fleet plan. Meaning- current today, the one we are going to tell you about and scare you into a subpar contract. Then all of a sudden, hey guess what, here's 50 more airplanes for you. This is all just part of the game.

I know all you doomsdayers will disagree with me. Go mope in your corner then.

It's been like a decade since a postal worker went postal.

I think maybe the new saying will be "he went regional"

CTS I agree with you. Occasionally my hatred for people at the GO gets the best of my professionalism. We have to take care of the customer.

Nope, but what else do you expect from a company during negotiations? They will twist their words around to strike fear into the pilots hearts without actually giving a definitive answer as to what's going to happen. Right now yes, with what we as pilots know about, that is the current fleet plan. Delta is not going to let those ATRs just go away without replacing them with something. Nor 12 CRJ700's. Remember we at ASA have to do 80% of the flying out of ATL for Delta. Right know I believe we are at 82-85% or something with Comair, CHQ, SA and Freedumb here. They can't take much more.

As to the future, well Delta has that huge RFP out now which includes everybody's flying BUT ours and Skywest, plus a chunk of new 76 seater flying. Midwest has one out, Frontier has one out for DEN (Skywest can't do it since they fly for United out of DEN), Continental may still award some turboprop flying, etc etc. I am willing to bet we will (or have behind the scenes already gotten) some of that flying. They just wont tell us until we get a new contract.

ASA has the greatest capacity right now to take on more flying. Everybody else is gearing up for hiring in some other way (Skywest, Mesa and CHQ).

I'm just playing the odds here as I see it. This letter is just a scare tactic.

The sad thing is that they wii forget to update their staffing requirements once this crap is settled. Mad panic in 6 months time to ramp up the hiring to replace all the people that have had enough of this sh!t, and staff the new aircraft that are arriving on property (despite us being too expensive!)

Come December 2007 and our staffing requirements are what they say, I will eat this mouse.

I have to save this one. If you eat your mouse, I'll by the beer! Sounds like a great excuse to drink beer to me.
