Talked to a US FA and she said the new rumor is that "US/DL merger is a done deal". Has anyone else heard this one?

Did she have any good stock tips?

I heard they were selling to Skywest and that they were going to be an all RJ fleet. ASA people would be ahead of Delta. Any truth to this.

Done Deal! No Way! I am not saying in the end it might not happen, but that is not what I am hearing! The decesion will be made with the creditors best interest in mind! The primary creditors are

ALPA - They will vote no because it would mean a loss of jobs! You are already doing pickiting against this merger!

Boeing - Their best interest is with a stand alone Delta. Delta is still on it's all Boeing fleet plan! Delta just did a deal with Boeing for new 737-700s, converting orders for the -800s to more 700s, a couple of new 777-LRs as well as another half dozen 777s in the next 5 years. USair and America West are Airbus airlines! Boeing has billions in future business with a stand alone Delta.

Pratt and Whitney - Their best interest is in a stand alone Delta. All the new Boeing aircraft coming to Delta are Pratt driven.

COKE - It is almost a no brainer that USair would close the Atlanta headquarters. Coke is an Atlanta company and has lots of interest in the Delta/Atlanta connection!

The DOJ will take a look at this very closely. Talk about overlap. If you look at the cities DL flies to from ATL domestically, and then move over 220 NE, you would find the same hub flying to the same cities. One of those hubs is likely to go, and that won't do. The problem is the LCCs will NOT go to the same small communities currently served by RJs from each hub. Southwest won't go to Florence, SC for example. They won't. FLO would lose half of their service, and half the choice. There are plenty other cities just like that. AWA and USAir were "allowed" to merge because of the lack of overlap. USAir also wanted to be purchased. USAir and United were not allowed to merge because of ONE hub overlap, and USAir and DL have many, many overlapping points. The fleets aren't close, the merger between AWA and USAir isn't even close to being done. Nah. Very unlikely. If UAL and CAL decide to merge, look for NWA to throw in a larger offer to compete with the new giant UAL/CAL mix. USAir brings nothing new to Delta, like Asia routes.

Also, add the PBGC, who just settled with us. I am sure that would mean voting our way, or we would not have settled.
