During EDP training, the CP told us the new interview process will add a loft with two pilot evaluators and the candadate.

The candadate will be given a scenario (i.e. 9K pounds of fuel with a mx and wx) and then asked to evaluate the situation and how he/she would handle it. The applicant will then be given 10 minutes by him/herself afterwhich, they will get back together and the applicant will be given a change to revise their original plan.

He also told us that the intercompany pilot referral form should be completed by SWA pilots and will go directly to the Captain's Review Board. As in the past, all those being invited for an interview will have their names posted in all SWA Pilot lounges. The CP encouraged us to offer input if we know the candadiate.

THE LINE ORIENTED INTERVIEW
In an effort to include more technical Flight
Operations related data we will introduce the Line
Oriented Interview (LOI). The Line Oriented Interview
is conducted in a B-737 paper-training device under the
direct supervision of two trained SWA pilots. The
applicant is provided with a flying scenario and then
provided the opportunity to demonstrate his/her decision-
making abilities and skills. The evaluation lasts
less than 10 minutes and has no right or wrong
answers. It is simply a method to observe applicant
interactions with other crewmembers in a cockpit environment.

Is the LOI a simulator evaluation? – No, SWA has no plans to use a simulator evaluation
in our interview process. The LOI is conducted in a B-737 paper-training
device.
