Boy Lear are you in for a rude awakening soon. Enjoy those long overnights while they last, because they won't be anywhere near that long when SWA takes over the rest of the flying. Try 14 hours in CUN and 12 hours in SJU if your lucky.
Yeah, I know... why do you think I've been bypassing the transition to SWA bids? :)

Just soaking up an enjoyable lifestyle while it lasts. I'll find a happy spot there too, I'm sure, just may take me a bit of wrangling with ELITT and trip trading. Hopefully there will be enough inefficient trips that people don't want that I can trade them efficient trips for and get a few more days off each month within the rules of trading and ELITT.

Time will tell, but it'll all work out.

What? Where do you come up with this nonsense? Oh, you BELIEVE that is true..... Many pilots, NOT SWA PILOTS, like INTL because it allows for ONE flight over 12 hours (not 5 legs over 2 days), to a nice destination with a nice hotel (for security too), to a great meal, and multiple crew members which allows rest (crew rest, some have bunks) DURING the flights. Not you nodding to sleep on your 5th leg that day. It is funny watching you try to come up with reasons. Maybe you flew for some dirtbag operation that had very few of those. You aren't or weren't at a good legacy. Enjoy Amarillo and Little Rock today!

Enough already. Seriously.

If you like International, good for you. But you spend an awful lot of time trying to convince everyone on this forum that it's the best deal around. Trust me--many, many people disagree with you. Not just Southwest pilots.

Here's an example for you: my buddy at American, who was furloughed for 5 years, got back in November 2007. Since that time, he's never been more than 100 or so pilots from the bottom of the total list. When he got called back to the very bottom, he was given 757/767 Intl out of NY. That European flying you crow about, is literally the last thing American pilots wanted. After a few years, he got 757/767 domestic out of LA, where all he did was 3 different trips: LA-NY, or LA-MIA, or LA-DFW-LA. That was it, but that was a step up. Then the American SFO base closed, and those guys all moved down to LA. Guess where he got dispaced to? Back to 757/767 Intl out of NY. The place that nobody else in the entire company wanted--the flying you do.

Like I said (and Dan mentioned above), some people like iternational. You say you do, so good for you. Many, many, many pilots do not, and don't do that kind of flying. Good for them. But I'd bet that almost nobody on this board agrees with you that it's the be-all and end-all that you pretend it is. Even the folks on this board who usuall fall on your side of arguments are getting tired of your holier-than-thou international schtick. It didn't seem like you noticed that, so I thought I'd point it out.

....and speaking of layovers. To the SWA folks how about that shooting across from the Monarch! Blew my mind when I saw the Clackamas Mall in the story. We used to stay there and I assume you guys still do.

and I live only 30 minutes away from it... the wife is still all shook up. Purely random event, and we can't become agoraphobes as a result I suppose.

You are all right. The General likes his Intl trips and well he should. Flycatcher likes his USA layovers in nice places and that can be just as fun. Trip brings up the point that Intl. flying can be taxing on the body. Good point, however I would say stay hydrated, don't drink to excess, eat healthy and get some exercise on an Intl trip and it's no where near as bad as having 4 or 5 beers and chicken wings and no exercise on a domestic layover.
If I had ended up at DAL I would certainly take advantage of seeing the world. If I had ended up at SWA I would enjoy the layovers Flycatcher has just as much.
But no matter were I worked I certainly don't think it's necessary to put down someone doing something different. It sounds like your trying to justify what your doing rather than enjoying it.

But Dan..........Tri-power 455 says ALL INTL flying SUCKS. He does. He knows.....

Look, I am sure they have some fun layovers, albeit not long ones (their productivity probably doesn't allow 24 hour layovers on the beach somewhere). But, having options is good. Some airlines have more options. Some can do domestic, with no INTL long haul. Some only Long Haul. Some have both, and then it is just a function of seniority. I enjoy being a senior FO flying mainly INTL flying. It really is easy. When I eventually go over to the 737 as Capt, I will fly domestic mainly (with some Caribbean and South America), but then I will bid widebody again eventually and go back to the easier flying. I am sure you enjoy your SYD trips, HND, and your JFK long Haul. 3 or even 4 man crews make it really nice. But, I can also pick up a domestic 3 day and see SEA or SAN if I want. Choices are good, and some people don't have that ability.

Bubba, that is a function of his seniority. If he was only getting the worst trips, that are worth nothing because of AA's old contract, then he should have gone somewhere else. Being in the bottom 100 anywhere probably isn't very fun. If he was only getting the worst trips, then that is because of where he is at, not generalizing it and saying "ALL INTL FLYING SUCKS" like tri-power did. I didn't say all DOMESTIC FLYING SUCKS. No, I still fly domestic every now and then if I want to pick something up. I still like SAN layovers. Your friend needs to go somewhere else if he doesn't like his situation. I have a buddy at AA who is a 777 FO out of LAX and he was hired there in 1990. He does 1 Shanghai 3 day a week, or a Narita or a Heathrow. 3-4 trips per month depending on the season. That sounds better, because he is more senior.

not trying to be a smartass.. it's just some of this bickering is lame. Sort of pointless and contributes little except ill will, even if it can be entertaining at times... ;)

I'm so glad to hear you SWA folks saying that you don't like Int'l. Really, I am. :)

My schedule for next month:

I turned one week of vacation into 24 days off by bidding touching conflicts. My last flight is the 22nd of Dec and I don't go back to work until the 16th of Jan.

Nice... I bid for max vacation pull too.

42 days off using 2 weeks of vacation, and no international! ;)

I got home on the 11th and you won't see my happy a$$ near an airport until Jan 23rd.....

But Dan..........Tri-power 455 says ALL INTL flying SUCKS. He does. He knows.....

Yup... My opinion....

I hated doing it, and hope to never do it again. The only way I want to go international is as a passneger on vacation.

I'm glad you like it, or pretend to...... ;)
