I think us two ex-mods, on Michaels $hit list can at least go that dirty once in a while! ;)

a would be classmate of mine at American back in 2001 who is a CA at AT now told me there was a captain that was in his upgrade class there at AT who actually had a class date for southwest just before the merger... almost took it too, luck for him they cancelled it before they announced the merger and saved him from a lifetime of misery.

I'm throwing the B.S. flag on this one . . . SWA wasn't hiring before the merger; they hadn't hired anyone for several years.

I think this is a good start, maybe a light at the end of the tunnel for some AT guys who may have thought that they might never see an ATL base. Good for them. And good for Corndogs who live in ATL.

Lear,

If you want to see INTL and "long haul", you are probably at the wrong airline. Your "long haul" will mostly likely be 5 legs from the East Coast to the West Coast. But, maybe in a year or two you can have a chance at traditional "long haul" and INTL. Good luck.

Well since I know this guy personally your flag is in shallow ground. And nobody said he was set to start class at the same time the merger was announced. But he was in the hiring pool

We had a class in Sept 2008, then a long break until classes started back up Jan 5th, 2011 thru March. Then more classes Jun 2011.

So there were guys in the pool from 2008-2011, but no classes during that time frame.

Just like Delta before they bought Pan Am. Good times!

Delta already flew to Europe and the Caribbean prior to that. SWA can't fly INTL because they still have tech problems (?), and the Hawaii Etops has been shelved. I would say that analogy isn't even close. You are lucky to be flying to Key West now, and maybe San Juan too. Good luck with that. The AT guys are there if you need them.

I wonder why that was? Hmmmm!

Delta didn't do much international at all before buying Pan Am. What, one or two European cities and a few Caribbean destinations. The Pan Am guys taught you regional guys how to do it.

Beside, international flying sucks. Always has, and always will.
