More time away from home...yeah! How about doing this in increments, let's start with 9 hours minimum rest, maybe move to 9 hours behind the door in a year or so, then bring max day down to 15.

my friend at the FAA seems to think the "Can is being kicked down the road" still on this one..... either way, I"m sure they've gutted the majority of it.

More TAFB. Less commutable trips. Same pay. Duty rigs are a must now.

All they had to do was increase min-time off duty to 10 hours (10 hrs rest and max duty 14) and leave everything else as it was. It would affect a small minority of layovers so the effects would be small.

They didn't have to turn this into some complex algorithmic style formula based on duty in periods etc. Fatigue will happen in this job no matter what. We are airline pilots, it's the nature of the job. The only way to prevent this is to keep everyone on the same time zone and fly them from 1PM-4PM every other day. And that sh!t is never happening.

The serious issue was always that there were times where the ability to get proper rest was IMPOSSIBLE--and that is on an 8 hour layover.
