We currently have authorization for 51 new hires with the first group of 8
starting on June 14. Due to the uncertainty of several major decisions
affecting our crew requirements in FY05, we will be reassessing our
staffing needs on a quarterly basis as the fiscal year unfolds and open
issues firm up. Therefore, we anticipate another bid in the late summer or
early fall timeframe.

Could one of you guys in training or in the know post or PM me KD's (now KG's) new phone number. I have her email address (thanks Pecan) but the number I have is old and disconnected. Yes, FedEx hired me to the pool and then changed there number? Makes ya wonder? (That can be a new thread) I need to call her to see if it is ok to head out on an AF reserve trip and pay some bills or see if I should wait by the phone. (Two weeks notice just doesn't cut it at my reserve unit when you're trying to suckle from the Iraqi Freedom nipple)

With only 8 starting on 14 June, I think July will be my telephone campout month, but I gotta know.

Optimistically hoping to quit treading water soon!!

"New Hires"?

Pardon the new guy's ignorance, but am I correct in assuming that the 51 "new hires" will actually be primarily poolies? If so, what are the chances that FEDEX will hire to replenish the pool?

Not totally sure

From the numbers hired so far this year, it appears that the pool will be just about drained by the end of the 2 (?) June classes. Calls have gone out for interviews in June, and there have reportedly been some interviews over the past few weeks. That leads me to believe that at least some of those 51 slots will be filled with new interviewees who are not in the current pool. The folks in recruiting are the only ones who would have the exact number of poolies left, but I'm guessing that most of them will be dried off by the end of Jun, leaving new folks for any future classes.

Hopefully there will be another bid (as mentioned as a possibility) near the end of the summer that will authorize some more new hires as well.

KAFTKTA: If you can possibly avoid going away for the month, I would stay home and wait for a call. You don't want to miss an opportunity to get started when you are this close. You never know when they might spring an additional last minute class or need to fill a spot for somebody who can't make it at the last minute.

I made a frantic move to Memphis 2 years ago to get in place for a class in July thinking I might get a call for an earlier class date. Turns out somebody couldn't show for a class for some reason, and someone else got the call to show early, and I ended up having to wait until Aug as it turned out. I was bummed, but at least I gave myself a chance for the earlier class date. Guys who made the July class have been able to hold secondary lines or even trash lines almost the whole time, while I have been pretty much stuck on reserve the whole time, so just a class or two can make a big difference in your schedule.

It might be worth the chance to stick around by the phone, if you can swing it financially.

Fedex update question

I did a search on this topic and could not find the answer...

I have added a new employer and aircraft type on my online fedex app, but they are not "on top" of either list. The program does not recognize the date and place them in the correct order. Do I have to remove all of my employers and aircraft and start over in an effort for them to be shown in chronological order? Thanks for any info.
