Effective immediately, we have unlimited jumpseat flowback with CAL, NW, and Alaska. Effective Jan 01, 2007, USAir and United will be allowed unlimited flowback also. Southwest has been allowed that unlimited flowback for awhile, and ofcourse any CASS member can sit in our jumpseat. Delta pilots also can sit in the FLT Attendant jumpseats if needed, which can free up the cockpit when needed for CASS members. (Hopefully they will do that for you if approached)

Why don't you reciprocate w/ everyone that gives you unlimited? There are many lakers commuting from SLC that get hosed by DL.
 
General, does this only apply to those airlines? I know that Skywest, JetBlue, Horizon, U.S. Air, and many others allow unlimited jumpseat riders. Also, is flowback a Delta term? If so what exactly does it mean?

Those airlines listed can have unlimited seats in the back if available. Every other airline can have the cockpit if they are CASS, or a seat in the back (2 on planes with 2 jumpseats in the cockpit---764, 777, and some 763s). We tried to work it out with AA, but they did not want to negotiate it I guess. I have heard different stories on that one. So, we went from unlimited jumpseats on Southwest only, to adding NW/CAL/Alaska today, and UAL/USAir on the 1st of next year. Everyone who is CASS can still fly in our cockpit if there is nothing available in the back.

That's about one of the only good things that has come out of all these paycuts for the major airlines - unlimited jumpseaters.

Hopefully that trend will stick when pay rates go up and work rules get better.
 
I find it strange that Delta thinks they need to specify which airlines get unlimited jumpseat access. Any other airlines do this? As far as I know, all other airlines allow unlimited to everyone, Cass or not. But then again, Delta has always been years behind everyone else on this issue.

I guess you didn't read the part about negotiations with AA failing. Will AA give us unlimited jumps? I guess not. Not everyone gives unlimited jumps. Airtran charges you if you are the second jumpseater.

I actually asked a leading question. The rumor is that DL thought that "unlimited jumpseats" with jb, reciprocity if you will, wasn't possible in today's "current political environment." Whatever that means...
 
What if?

OK, what happens if three CAL guys are trying to get on and a JB guy walks up? Are those CAL guys considered to be taking all available jumpseats (1 or 2) plus extra making the JB guy unable to ride? Or maybe the CAL guys will be considered the extras and the JB guy will be able to ride?

Different situation: a JB guy walks up as the first jump seater, then three CAL guys show up. I would assume the JB guy would be able to ride since he was first, and following him the CAL guys would too with their agreement. Same four people trying to catch a ride, but will there be any difference in who gets on?

Just curious because there are many times Delta is an option for me to get home to see my family but I can never count on getting on even if there are tons of seats available. It would be nice to see Delta show the same courtesy to JB that JB does to their employees.

Hmmm....we at UAL are giving the DAL guys/gals unlimted right now, but for some reason DAL is making us wait until 1 Jan 2007?

B.) Are you still drunk from your yes vote? We do in fact have unlimited jumpseats on American. They are excellent to us and you can list by calling ahead and it'll keep track of who called when and put them in the order they called for clearing the "jumpseat" list.


As far as the others whining about why didn't their airline get on the list... hmmm, why don't you be proactive and have your jumpseat committee contact your management and the DAL jumpseat committee and then have your management contact Delta management to get the ball rolling yourself on an agreement? Naw...it's just easier to cry about it then be proactive.

Or, if you work at an airline such as mine (Great Lakes), management gives nothing and takes everything. Maybe you could save me the hassle and not turn me away when there's 40 open seats in back...

I have taken AA, DL, NW, CO, UA among others from our many exciting destinations, and AA and DL still DO NOT reciprocate our "unlimited" policy. But then again, we're not a real airline, right?

You are the one who is drunk, or maybe your head has always been in the clouds......We are in BK, but maybe we could have still held a knife to their throats and seen what we could have gotten......61% didn't see it that way.

As far as the AA agreement, I don't fly on them at all, so I thought that was the deal. I even mentioned that I didn't really know about that one. Thank gawd you are here to clear everything up.

General - DL has had unlimited status on AA for some time now. Why it is not reciprocated with you guys is beyond me. Hopefully it'll get fixed.
