Brother , I think your out of line and do not realize how good you have it at SWA . You can call in fatigued on line and you do not have to answer to anyone nor would anyone question you. Some other places the recourse , I am sure would be intimidation, at the least. ( You have nothing to loose, some of these guys do) . Kind of like telling your neighbor to tell his boss he wants a 50 % raise or quit. He would be out of a job and you would still have lost nothing.


Last of all I cant stand when someone says go some where else. So if you do not like what the government is doing with the military ,should you just leave the country? Rant off

Sorry you think I'm out of line, but if I worked for a company or the Government and didn't believe in or like the conditions then I would seek other employment; simple as that. If you just except something that you know is not right then you are contributing to the problem. Would you fly an airplane that you felt was not airworthy just because the Captain told you to? I didn't think so. By the way, I have a lot to loose, but that won't stop me from doing the right thing.

If anyone was seriously concerned about pilots being tired, then reduced rest should be made illegal immediately. Also, scratch out the "transportation local in nature is considered rest". This should be done NOW. Worry about the other stuff later.

Agreed. Add in some provisions for circadian rhythm, as in no more PM turn AM with added insult of reduced rest.

As a die hard PM type, I am generally unable to fall asleep until 0200ish, so those 0600 wakeups on unscheduled reroutes are beyond painful.

That is easy to say when you have one of the best seats in the house. IMO. Also at a younger age I have flown a/c that I should not have.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. I don't understand what's so hard to understand about it? Is it really that hard to just do the right thing? What do those people in the back expect you to do? What do you expect of someone when your family is in the back? Did you tell them at the interview that you don't think saftey is #1 and for them to not expect you to do the right thing?

It is your life and your ticket. At some point in our careers, we have all landed and breathed a sigh of relief. The issue is if you continue to come to work knowing that you are putting your life/ticket on the line just to get some hours.
