New ASA Rumor

Heard in the crew lounge today from two IP's; Jerry Atkins was asked about merging the two companys, and if there were any new bases being opened, and replied that there is going to be a big anouncement made on September 1st. That is also the same reply when someone asked about our pass priveledges. Take it for what its worth, just a rumor. Also heard about a JFK base for the 705's to support mexico and carribean flying.

I wish I had a nickel for every rumor I heard since I've been flying 121. I'd be a very wealthy man right now.

I love how every rumor you hear is a "big announcement". I wish I had a buck for every "big announcement" that was supposed to take place. Every time I hear that phrase, I pretty much tune out everything after it.

It would be a violation of SEC rules , and several federal laws, for a company to leak information that could affect its stock price. Atkin isn't stupid. If there was to truly be a "big announcement" you wouldn't hear about it from him until the press release came out.

The only "Big Announcement" that I actually believed and came true was the one saying Independence Air is stopping operations on Jan. 7th.

That one got my attention.

More planes, bigger planes, mergers, new bases, closing bases, corn dogs, chili dogs, clowns, etc.

Yeah. September 1 will be four frickin years in negotiations that are going no where. That's a total of 8 years on the current 4 year contract that is consistently violated by the company.

JFK base. Who the hell wants to live up there on regional wages. That will make the 705 the most junior airplane in the system.
