We are losing an average of 25 a month. They need to do something. I'm out on parole at 2359 Thursday. Everyone I talk to seems to have interviews coming up or have already turned in their 2 weeks notice (for scheduling to abuse you!!!!!). I would expect even more classes throughout the summer and in to the fall.

What's so bad about the scheduling?

That seems like good news to me. Gives us a little hope that regional guys do have a chance at getting jobs at the majors. Maybe the ASA upgrade time will come down.

Dream on! I could be wrong, but going by airlinepilotcentral, ASA has the longest upgrade time of any airline, maybe aside from Eagle. Coming up on four years, I have over 200 FO's senior to me on the list. That means we need to grow by 40 aircraft before my number comes up. (Come on attrition!)

Moral of the story is..........if you want to upgrade in under 5-6 years, DO NOT come to ASA. Apply to Mesa and CHQ.

Somebody answer his question. ASA is quite frankly currently the worst airline on the planet to work for. The Scheduling Clerks were formerly psychological warfare officers at a Uzbekistan prison. During their internship, ASA hires scheduling clerks for a full time position if they can make Marine Guards from Abu Ghraib curl up in the fetal position and cry.

We are not growing, our new airplanes are going to SkyWest. Our VP of Flight Operations is currently upset because ALPA safety warned pilots to be careful about maintenance control and scheduling pushing them into potenitally unsafe flight operations.

The crew schedulers have earned my strike vote (if I'm still here). They lie, the rig the times to underpay you, deny you hotel rooms, the use calling cards to contact you, they lie to your family and the company only holds you accountable. If you answer the phone and can not accept a junior man assignment, you get the occurrence on your record without regard for the trick crew scheduling may have used to contact you.

You have no time off. A day off is just short call reserve at time an a half. I will vote no on every contract that does not fix involuntary junior manning and extension.

That too! Thanks for reminding me. :p

That's a given with fins 737. Did ya forget?

I've got my lines in the water as well. Hopefully I can get a bite and get out as well.

The whole reason no one was moving up was that no one was leaving! It seems like everyone now is realizing that a regional is not a permanent career choice; hopefully they will continue to get out so everyone can move up and then get out.

Where do you all come up with the # of people leaving? Im at the bottom of the list and I move up maybe 5-10 spots a month and on the new seniority lists I moved up about 60. That doesnt equal 25 a month or anywhere near there.

The number is more likely 10 per month, give or take. Many FO's leaving too. This place has descended into the third level of Hades.

To answer the scheduling question and to add to what fins said. The problem is that there is no "system". Granted they have gotten better since Willy left but it is still a goat rope. Last week for instance. I get called in to ferry an airplane to Hot Springs Ark, Limo (read van) to LIT, spend the night, and deadhead home. I got the call at about 1730 for a 1930 show. Oh well there goes my dinner plans, but I am on reserve. I get to the airport only to have a schedule change. I am now operating a flight to BTV for an 8 hours RR overnight and 1 leg home the next morning. Not a problem. However, the airplane I was going to take came in from TOL with a crew that was supposed to go to BTV as part of their regularly scheduled trip. They pulled the entire crew off of their trip and sent them home for no reason. No duty problems or anything of that nature.

How about deadheading up to CVG to ferry an airplane home only to have them cancel the ferry flight and put you in a hotel and wait for scheduling to call. Sounds like reserve in CVG to me. I deadheaded more than I flew last week! And it goes on and on.......

How about the short call and rush to the airport to then be released once you get there. That happened 2 times this month, my roomate 1. It's not like gas isn't $3 a gallon.

READ YOUR CONTRACT! There is NO short call. When they call you you have 2 hrs to get to the airport. If they want you there in 1 hr you tell them you'll be there in 2.

gee, really, i didn't know that... idiot.

Word has it that ASA wants to hire a few hundred people before year end due to "attrition". I don't think they are going to lose hundreds of people in the next few months. I think they are planning for expansion or more planes.

What about negotiations?

Well, hopefully the new section 13 that is very close to getting TA'd is a big improvement. I am anxious to see the results on this one.
