Back to the lanyard, I see it as a message to our customers more than anything. It doesn't have to be made into something political.

You're seeing the otherside of the LUV coin, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I haven't seen any SW pilots wear the lanyard, and if they did, they would probably be brow beaten by others. It's not that we don't see what AAI brings, it's just that we aren't quite feeling the love....yet.

I would say the lanyard is very similiar to the opinions to the whole deal when it was announced..

AAI guys high fiving each other with happiness.

SW guys worrying about where we might be headed with this whole deal.

AAI folks would be pretty down if the deal fell through, the SW crew would most likely be happy.

Not hating, it just seems to be the same sentiment...for now. I hope things go well.

Fixed it for you.

I may end up losing some spots depending how our department's SLI goes, but I'm trying to see the long term positives that this will bring. I know it's not exactly the same as your SLI since I don't have upgrades to worry about, but still hope everything works out.

Exactly right.

Have any of you sent Emails to Mr. Kelly and expressed your concerns or disgust over this deal? If not, this is just misdirected hostility. The AT pilots aren't responsible for this deal and at some point we are going to have to deal with it like adults. I don't think not wearing the lanyards is going to have any effect other then giving off a childish message. " NO! I'm not wearing my lanyard, waaaahhhhh."

Would Airtran pilots be happy for 50% of their longevity for the 50% increase in job security and benefits?

Your question has no bearing on the matter. Longevity is not being merged or integrated here. Job security and benefits aren't either. Neither are W-2's or culture (Thank God). The only thing being integrated is seniority, hence, the name SLI.

Let's let the MC's do their jobs and, hopefully, cooler heads will prevail. The end result, I believe, will be worth the wait.
