NetJets Pilots to Picket Meeting of Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders
Thursday April 28, 2:45 pm ET Teamsters Call on Warren Buffett to Address Contract Issues
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2005--On Saturday, April 30, pilots employed by fractional-ownership airline NetJets will picket outside the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders' meeting to raise awareness regarding their continued plight to receive a fair contract from their company, a subsidiary of Warren Buffett's conglomerate.
NetJets pilots, who have been recognized as the safest in the private jet industry, endure low wages, insufficient benefits and unreasonable scheduling demands. They have been working nearly four years without a new contract after their last negotiated agreement came up for renewal in 2001.
"The poor treatment of these pilots is inexcusable," said Nick Reyer, Business Agent, Teamsters Local Union 1108. "Berkshire Hathaway needs to address this right now. The pilots at NetJets have earned the reputation as the most experienced and safest in the air today, but are still paid well below the industry standard."
