Heard someone say the other day that NJ requires a type before you are hired. Not necessarily a type in an aircraft that they fly but a type in anything. Just a rumor but wanted a clarification.
 
The only type you need to apply at NetJets right now is only issued at Bellevue. You'd have to be nuts to be applying here right now.

They sent me an application recently. Promptly returned it. I have several type ratings and plenty of time, but they quickly sent me back a rejection letter saying that "after careful review and consideration, we have elected not to offer you an interview...." WTF!

...maybe with that kind of experience they realize they would not be able to pull the wool over your eyes as easy ;)

We have a pair of 25 yr. old pilots in my indoc class with neither type ratings or any turbojet time. Those without type ratings have to take their logbooks with them to Flight Safety Sim Training for some kind of a review.

both pilots are typed.

Airbear they probably have to take them for a review to show they have x amount of turbine time on hand. Otherwise they have a limitation of 25hrs of instruction by a pic on their cert.
 
I submitted via Climb to 350 over the weekend.

Any word on how long it may take to get a response.

Just hoping a currently flight instructing, barely dry ATP with 2600/800ME/and 400 Turbine might get a chance at an interview.

You're hired. They are putting guys in the X with min time. So i wouldn't sweat it. Just work on the customer service stuff.

Just curious how your owners feel about the new, low time pilots being hired. I am sure when they bought in they were told about how experienced their flighcrews are. Yes, most of them are, but it seems that if there is a newly rated ATP in the right seat still learning to spell turbine, what happens if the Captain tries to do something unsafe?

Diesel meant low time by our standards NOT the FAA standards. Our minimums have not changed. 2500tt/500 multi, etc. Most of the FOs hired over the last few years have been either retired/furloughed major capts or furloughed RJ pilots.

Half my interview group and half my new hire class are CRJ200 pilots from Independence Air. I have a small indoc class of just 7, I think a few more started today with the 1 day indoc then off to sim. Of my group only myself and one other pilot have major airline time (US Airways & TWA/AMR). Then we have the Indy Air pilots and a few from other RJ operators, then we have a pair of 25 year olds from turboprop operators. Their only option was the Ultra, the rest of us could have held any of the other planes if the timing had been better. I heard a rumor the next class had 2 pilots get the X, the rest got the Ultra.

I dunno about low time, cause in my indoc class recently I would say our average pilot out of the 17 in the class had about 6000+ hours....

...then again the 5 Delta retirees helped that number.

i gotta ask how one delta retiree can find that job at all enticing, much less 5 of them...
 
We have quite a few retired / former Part 121 guys here at NetJets. Some simply like to fly, some (sadly) have made way too many marriage mistakes, and will be paying for it for the rest of their lives.

Or, to put it another way:

"You know, I bet that if I learned to F$%@ REAL GOOD.....I wouldn't have to keep buying a NEW HOUSE every FIVE, F$%@ING YEARS! AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Yup, its possible, watch for FSI vero beach or OSU or ERAU or some program...In the new 91k/EOD-DAAP regs, SIC has to have 500 hours total time and a commercial instrument rating.
