The story is the legs are shorter over there so you can get the weight down enough to make the gradients..... You don't have to come out of ASE and go for 2+ hrs to get anywhere..... Shorter legs...

BTW the Alps and such are big, but they don't put a lot of our mountains to shame....

Yah, but that 400XP is kinda limited in where it can go in Europe seeing that there arent too many airports that carry prist over there. The prist thing has been a huge issue for NJE.
 
Okay lets take Geneva-Milan or even Geneva-London I don't have my planning program on this computer but it would be just under 2 hours for the beech jet. Maybe even an even 2. Geneva is effectively the central of europe in terms of money and power. Want a GV or Global go to geneva. :)

Anyways the departure out of Geneva (once again no planning on this comp) has you fly down the valey cross an altitude and then turn to clear the mountains.

I doubt the the Beechjet could make it. Only saving grace is that it's got a realllllllllly long runway.

I recall that Santulli had a fit that CS would be getting the CJ3s and cancelled all of the NJA orders - obviously that would be a great replacement aircraft if Santulli could swallow his pride and do what's right...

Could NJA even order the CJ3 with its current order backlog?

Looks like a nice aircraft. How many have been ordered thusfar? Any ordered by US customers? I never completely believe the marketing/online materials - you need to take them with a "grain of salt."

Questions to consider - how fast could they ramp up production of this aircraft? What kind of support could they provide on an ongoing basis? What is their history of supporting customers for other products? Reputation of the manufacturer would be very important - as would discount pricing for volume orders...

Face it; the Germans haven’t built a reliable, AFFORDABLE aircraft since the ME109… Stick to fast cars and great beer; leave the airplanes to US ingenuity

So far they sold the first batch to european customers. However, I heard the first US sale has been closed just last week, even before they started marketing it. The US launch for this bird is planned at NBAA this year.

I have seen it fly, and I tell you, it's impressive. Never before had I seen such a short take off roll in a jet this size! Landings are not bad either, they stall at 77 knots, which translates in a rather slow approach speed

As far as GROB customers go, the US Air Force is a big one, for single engine piston trainers. GROB builds an aerobatic (+6 / -3) aircraft also in carbon fiber certified for 24'000 hours of aerobatics!!!

They also built a high altitude single engine turboprop, Strato 1, which I think won the Air Force contract to replace the Lockeed U2, just before the colapse of the Soviet Union. The Strato 2 is another plane they built as a project for the German government, it stays at 80'000 ft for 48 hours with 2 crew.

Sure, German quality, so they say has it's price...

What would the right price be for a jet that would have All of the following caracteristics, at the same time:

1) Be able to land in smaller fields than those a King Air 350 can use, including unpaved runways, and get out with a heavier load

2) Cruise at more than 400 knots at FL 410

3) Have a cabin 30% bigger than a CJ3, just a tad smaller than an Excel

4) Have a range of 1'800 NM with 7 people on board (NBAA IFR 100 NM alternate) Incidentally the 7 people on board may be one pilot and 6 pax as it is single pilot certified

So, what is a fair price for bird that can do all of the above at the same time, be it German, US, Swiss or Chineese?
