Sorry Abenaki, from your tone I thought it was a rhetorical question....but if you want a budget, here's my take on it. Keep in mind that it may not be as fancy as you'd like, but I did this from my perspective, with NEEDS not WANTS in mind....

Food ...........................................$600

Property taxes (incl. in mortgage) ......$0
Insurance .....................................$125
Medical expenses .........................$333

TOTAL .........................................$5,958

I used the scorched earth term to refer to what appears to be your unions intent to get what it wants, regardless of the impact on the company, fellow employees, and fellow aviators. Is it more colorful than necessary? probably, but it should serve to make people pause and think about their actions.

As for Mr. Boisture's nickname, no, I wasnt aware of that. But based on what I've seen during the time he's been here, the managers have more to fear than the employees. I've seen a lot of turnover in the managers ranks, and most of it has been appropriate. How many employees has Mr. Boisture let go?

And as nicknames go, I would suggest that they dont mean a lot. If you're old enough to remember, Jack Welch was refered to as "Neutron Jack" about 30 years ago because of his tendancy to cut all of the dead weight when he took over a company. There was a lot of pain at first, but you cant argue with the success that came as a result.

I've got to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Management didnt start posting articles on the 6S's or the negotiations until after the union started handing out their materials at work.

And 'Bridgeway Bob' is just doing his job. He doesn't deserve to be abused here because you dont like what he's been asked to post.

I agree as well. I will also go one step further. They should be treated with the utmost respect at ALL times, to include these boards. These are PUBLIC boards and you may think its an inside joke, but its not. Also, havent you heard the saying that you act as you think?

You are correct that some of the Owners are not friendly, but as was noted by someone else, they have purchased a service. They dont have to be nice. You and I know that you are highly trained and have a valuable skill, but in their minds you are still there to provide a service, not unlike their "gardeners/maids/pool boys or drivers".

Its been my experience that this is a very small percentage of our owners, and I'm sure everyone else will agree with me on that.

Drama AND numbers... what a treat. Keep 'em coming FamilyGuy.

I miss read it the first time around.

I will still stand by my post though. The company did not try to put the dagger in because every day they drag their feet it fills their coffers.

FamGuy has suggested that it was only the Union that drug this out this long, but I think there is more than enough blame between the company and the former MEC.

Hogprint - Agreed. My original post on this topic implied that both parties were probably at fault for this taking as long as it has.

It takes two to tango. The union could have had an agreement years ago but didnt want an agreement during 2002-2003 when the economy was in the tank....why else would you spend years dickering over contractual provisions and not even talk wages? They didnt want an agreement because the economy was horrible and they wouldnt be able to make their 'double my salary' demands. When the economy picks up in 2004 then they are in a mad rush to get a deal done and they start their mad-cap claims of 1300 days of waiting on management....lets face it, union leadership and the company reached a TA last fall and the pilots voted it down, changed their MEC, Local, and Negotiating team, forcing everyone to start over.....so you really havent been waiting 1300 days....more like 120.

I dont follow your reasoning that the company drug their heels at this time because it put more money in their pocket. Think back to the state of the industry after 9/11 - the company could have taken an extremely hard line and said they needed a concessionary contract (like most aviation companies).... but they didnt. Given the conditions at the time they could have gotten another contract that didnt increase their costs.

If you'll think about it, the union waiting till there were better economic conditions would be the entirely rational thing to do...its smart negotiating....the only drawback is that it undermines your claim of 1300 days of waiting on management.

Why don't you try living in the Northeast. Your little table is a joke. A normal commute for a NJA pilot costs more in gas for one trip to work. Yeah that's realistic.

Who cares what you say about what we should make. You're just a company troll who's job is to lower expectations. Well try this on for size.

NOBODY CARES. It's an aviation board for pilots by pilots.

In life there are some people just happy scraping by day to day. I'm not one of those people.

I told you that I did it from my perspective... I live in Columbus and that's realistic.

You can live in Columbus as well....or several other gateways. But again, its about NEEDS, not WANTS.

As for whether you care about what I say, I am posting in a thread directed at NetJets Casino Employees.....

Despite your protests otherwise, $100,000 is still good money, and would rank you in the top 20% of all families in the US, according to the US Census Bureau:

2003 Mean US family income by quintile and top 5%

Lowest Fifth...............
$13,871
Second Fifth..............$32,896
Middle Fifth................$53,016
Fourth Fifth................$79,713
Highest Fifth.............$163,322
Top 5%......................$281,467

I'm thinking back pre-9/11...everthing is running smoothly, company says it wants to get it done, MEC says we're getting it done, even owners would come up to the cockpit and ask how things were going....

I'm thinking post-9/11...like one month after...when the TA was supposed to be released and union and company hand in hand push it back three months....

I'm thinking back three months after that, when both parties push it back six months....

I'm think back six months after that...

Get the picture?

The company could have done a lot of things. Concessionary Contract could have been one of them, but most of those types of contracts have hit in the last couple of years for the legacy carriers.

You have to understand that everyday they don't have to pay standard wages to any employee be it mechanic, scheduler, pilot, floor sweeper is money in the bank.

How exactly could the company have gotten another contract that didn't increase their costs?
