This might be a stupid question but does anyone have an idea how aircraft assignments are determined? Is it a bid process or are you hired into a type? Is seniority assigned by age or random? and what are the normal aircraft types given to new hires? Thanks for the info.

it is based on what the company needs. So if you think your super pilot don't count on getting a falcon cause your that good.

ive seen guys with a million hours get a beechjet and guys that can't drive themselves to work get a falcon.

Aircraft assignments will be given on your first day of indoc now. They put you where they need you.

Seniority is based on age.

All fleets are assigned except the BBJ and GIV and GV

My inquiry was based on curiousity on what to expect should I get hired with NJA, nothing based on what I feel is my level of flying skills, more do I get to wish (seniority based bid) or am I assigned to an aircraft. Besides I would not expect to see a falcon slot for a new hire, but thanks for the tip.

there are pletny of new hires that get a falcon. It depends on if they need FO's. NOT flying experience.

What i meant was there are people on here who think they are really good and then bummed cause they got an ultra.

This is my personal guess, but I think many of the falcon slots are going to get taken by current FO's. If it is going to take a couple of years for an upgrade, you might as well be in a comfortable plane while you are waiting.

Having said that, the company can hire into which ever fleet they need the manpower.

I think you are right fisch. That's my plan at least when my 2 year lock is up. The right seat of the Falcon or the 800 XPC. I'll be surprised though if I'm able to hold the right seat of the Falcon after 2 years.
