A few weeks ago I tried this... (hint. hint).

Now I will try this... (HINT. HINT.)

206amphib, tankerswede, really, I'm glad you got hired. Here's the deal. Just because your handwriting is legible to you, that don't mean it is to me. If an interviewer can not read you application, you are hurting your chances.

NetJets is a SERVICE company that happens to fly people around. Don't you see how you are providing yourself and the interview team a SERVICE by typing it out?

NetJets is the hottest gig in the Fractional industry. If you REALLY want to get on with us you are only HELPING yourself by getting it typed.

But what do I know...:erm:

ok ok i'll get detailed....i PRINTED it....looking forward to the job though, and the customer service part is one I greatly enjoy. I've been flying corporate for about 2 years now with about 90% of it being single pilot. I'm not saying that I had to do everything that those at nj have to do but almost. I always enjoyed it, so service won't be an issue. I think anyone that interviews gets the clear picture during day one that if you're not up for customer service, you should probably look elsewhere....

Hey everyone,
Had a question about the netjets app that maybe some current folks could help answer.

It says to apply send completed app, cover letter, and resume in. The app is a PDF file, but it says you can send it in via email. Do most folks type it out and scan it in to send via email. Don't currently have an typewriter, so I'd have to procure one. Does anyone know if there's a way to do it on a computer, rather than typing it?

Thanks in advance

hey dude make sure you send it via REGULAR MAIL. There's a thread going on over at airlinepilotcentral, apparently they wont be impressed if you priority mail or fedex the thing. The instructions say regular mail, I advice you do that.

cheers

I don't think they were saying send it regular mail. I don't think it matters. The guy said he sent it certified and they hadn't signed for it. I overnighted mine and had no problems?

I sent mine priority and they didn't have a problem with it.

I sent mine by UPS Second Day Air. What else did I do to get the interview in spite of rather than because of?

Sent in hand-written application via UPS Overnight, said some silly things in the technical interview, got hired, and will finally be senior to somebody tomorrow. I don't think handwritten versus typed is what's making the difference right now, or at least by some miracle I made it through anyhow.

Though I'd advise doing everything you can to impress, I don't think the people not getting the job are the ones making the minute decisions incorrectly like this. If you're neat and you hand-write, I don't think they're going to toss your app in the trash.

sigh.....

You guys are killing me.:smash:

Spoken like someone NOT in pilot recruitment now or ever.

If you ever had to read some of the chicken scratch that some applicants send in, you'd hardly blame the recruiter for separating the handwritten from the typed... getting to the hard-to-read ones when able.

There is a lot of data entry from the applications that occurs right off the page. The interview panel reads the application very carefully to try to get to know the applicant in a very short period of time.

If you think that chicken scratch will get you hired anywhere... well, good luck.

Take your chances. It's your career.

Hey like I said, I wrote mine, but I'm not saying it wouldn't have been better to type it. Anything you can do...

Note that I said "neat" and hand-written. If you write "chicken scratch", I wouldn't doubt at all that you application would not get top billing, but as I had no access to a typewriter and the application was sent in a 17x11 format that I couldn't run through my printer, I elected to very carefully hand write that portion of it. I spent numerous hours filling in the information, and I've had a lot of jobs in the past 10 years so there was a lot of information to carefully put in. I made computer copies of all documents I could, but for the actual application, I hand wrote it. I got hired, so take that for what it's worth.

Now that the application is a downloadable PDF, I would have typed the information in. I'm also pretty technically savvy and have the software to be able to do this pretty easily. If you have access to these and can do it, I would recommend typing everything that you can. I was just saying that I don't think that doing a painstaking handwriting job on the application will necessarily eliminate you from the hiring pool.
