No, but I'm trying to imagine. My best guess is that some totally unrelated news item will steal the headlines, at least in Memphis --- and this would negate media coverage of our peaceful demonstration. Without the media coverage there is no point. Plus they are planning to try again, so it isn't "off," just delayed.Los1 said:anybody have any ideas as to what this "event" is?

Because of a significant event, which should become evident to everyone in the very near future, the MEC has elected to cancel our Negotiations Unity Demonstration for tomorrow. We will be rescheduling it for a more appropriate time in the near future.
The rescheduling of this event will take a minimum of two weeks, and the SPC will be announcing details as soon as they are firmed up. We appreciate the effort of all of those who were planning to attend, but there is no other appropriate option for the MEC.
If you know someone who was going to come to the event tomorrow, please call them and be sure that they know that it is being rescheduled. We need to make sure that all pilots get the word.
Once again, you will understand the reason for this decision within the next few days. Please, understand that this demonstration will be rescheduled for the near future, and your support will be essential. Thank you.
Due to significant events beyond the control of the FDX MEC, the Unity Demonstration scheduled for Wednesday, June 1 is canceled. The reason for the cancellation will become evident within the next couple of days. There will be a Hub-Turn meeting at 0030 tonight (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) to answer questions.
As announced in an earlier Message Line today, the Negotiations Unity Demonstration scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to a significant outside event unrelated to contract negotiations. For anyone who had reserved a jumpseat to attend, we have confirmed that there will be no penalty for anyone canceling a jumpseat to Memphis outside of the normal cancellation window.
Once again, you will understand the reason for this decision within the next few days. Please, understand that this demonstration will be rescheduled for the near future, and your support will again be essential. Thank you.
