I am writing my senior thesis for an economics class on the Asia/Pacific airline industry. As part of my paper, I wanted to compare the operating costs between US based Airlines and some South East Asian airlines (Thai, Singapore, China, etc). I want to compare fuel costs, labor, insurance, etc. and how these translate into profits. I am having a difficult time locating any operating cost data and was just wondering if anyone on the board had run across such information. Thanks for your help.

Pipers:

You might try the Asian Wall Street Journal or Far Eastern Economic Review websites to see if they have any articles on Asian airlines with that kind of data, otherwise try obtaining annual reports from the companies you mentioned. Labor costs are going to be the item to really look at. Fuel costs don't differ too much until you get to the Middle Eastern carriers.
