If it's a stable job, I would stay right there. The Saab 340 seems to be a nice aircraft, and even if you don't make big bucks, no one does anymore. Upgrading can be really fun and PIC of anything is awesome experience. I've seen too many new-hires in the last few months with your numbers, and they all think they're going off to Fedex next month just because they're logging big 70 seat jet time. Nothing could be farther from the truth for lack of any tubine PIC time, unless you're a girl. Good luck, stay with the company...
Um, excuse me, but I am a GIRL and noone is knocking on my door and I have over 2200 PIC Turboprop. Minimum requirements are minimum requirements....it doesn't matter if you are a girl, black, alien, etc.

Back to the original question......

PIC TURBOPROP!

Pretty much every airline hiring out there requires 1000 PIC turbine. It does not matter if it is jet or prop. Once you have that time, you have it FOREVER. Then you can worry about moving to the all-mighty overrated JET!

I have a buddy with over 7000 hours, thousands in a 737 as FO and guess what? He can't apply to FedEx, UPS, SWA, etc.

Fly,
Upgrade at Chico is like 3+ years right about now....I think you made the right choice.

The 20,000 pound requirement is for JB, but it is not PIC. Get your time in the left seat then switch if you need to. I've got almost 5000 hours in the right seat between SF340s and B727s and I can tell you it doesn't matter what it's in, you still can't get looked at without the PIC turbine.

Stay at Colgan, get the 1000 PIC turbine, then decide where to go from there.
