Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my RANT IS ON.

It actually made the NBC nightly news that ole "Hoot" had to get "grounded" by a rule set "way back in 1959."

Brian Williams must be looking to fill some dead air this evening. Either way, I must tip my hat to those responsible for getting this on the nightly news. Pretty nice PR move. I do not think that the rule change (in its present form) is a good idea, but dang that was a masterful piece of "spin control".

Any chance those responsible would like to turn their attention/media expertise to meaningful issues? i.e. airport security, pension reform, etc. or is there not enough money in it for YOU! lol

Very well played this evening guys...

Rant OFF.

And before this turns into a "how can you bash hoot" thread, I'm not. I thank him for his service and wish him the happiest of retirements. BTW... Hoot, can you answer the age old question...how do you log shuttle time?

Anyone else catch the broadcast?

Yea, I saw it.

Looks like the greedy gummers got their decrepit mitts on the NBC News Department.

I would not call it hoping on, just because it is on the news. You will not hear about it again on T.V.

I'm not at all surprised to see the pro change folks using Hoot as a way to draw attention to the cause. If I were wanting to change the rule I would be doing the same.

I believe that it was the local NBC affiliate that did the story. They came looking for "Hoot"...not the other way around. Lets remember that he has been a bit of a local celebrity in the Houston area for quite a while, so they do know him.

Let's also remember he did say that, "Those are the rules and I have to live by them." And, as of this past Sunday, he has....
