Wrong.......and your wife/family will spend the majority of of your career alone at home without you. I stay in this game because I make great money. If that goes away so do I ...and I rent a 172 to scratch my flying itch.
school teaching keeps you home a lot.

was that for me? If being home with your family is your primary goal, then school teaching is great career, no doubt about it. My sister and her husband were school teachers in Mich, had over $160K/yr family income, worked 172 days a year, owned a $400K house, new cars every year. What would be wrong with school teaching? Of course unless you really like flying airplanes. If you elect to be pilot or in the military, then you accept family seperation as price you pay. It is hard to have it both ways.
