Plane's wheel breaks off during landing at Naples Airport
By Daily News staff November 27, 2005
A Piper Cub airplane didn't have a smooth landing at the Naples Municipal Airport on Saturday.
A wheel broke off during the landing of the privately owned aircraft on Saturday afternoon, said Naples Airport Executive Director Ted Soliday.
He said two people, both of them local pilots, were aboard after a trip over Naples and there were no injuries, nor fires. Soliday did not identify the two on the plane.
Soliday said the aircraft blocked the runway for several minutes, but the airport's fire trucks were in readiness. The cause was unknown, but there will be an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
