Does anyone know how to get an intersection or waypoint named?

dunno but whoever does name them made some pretty cool names....
BEARZ near chicago
WINGS near detroit
STADI near U-I's stadium
im sure there are tons of others that have relevance to local surroundings......

There used to be one outside Orlando named DONGS.

what do you think was going on when GANJA intersection was named on the UKW arrival into DFW?

Phoenix has some good ones also.

On the DBACK ONE ARRIVAL you have two intersections titled:
DBACK and HOMRR
(For the Az Diamonbacks / Home Run)

Also coming in on V16 from the west you have:
PERKY - ANGRY - COFIN

The FIFO's

The FIFO's get to name them when they are being built. They do a little research and come up with local names, like all the ones around DTW have a Detroit sports connection, Wings, Tycob, Dunks, etc. Like the intersection named GORDN on the VOR 14 at 55D (Grayling, MI) is named after the FBO owner from years ago. I got that from a guy at the BTL FIFO office who designed the approach.
