Paul Souder, 24 of Gainesville Fl, was killed Feb 14 2005 in a tragic plane crash in leesburg, Fl. He was know on the hangar as movingviolation. Paul was an unbelievable person, always going 90 to nothing, never stopping. I didn't know when he rested.
He was flying around with some friends before he had to get to work, the pilot of the plane, a v tail bonanza, turned on to final in too steep a bank, the Plane started to fall, the pilot froze, Paul immediately took the yoke and straightened the plane, He and the pilot were killed, but he save two lives. That is why he is my hero. " Livin the dream " he always said.
Paul was a 2001 graduate of FlightSafety in Vero Beach, He had a current job as a frieghtdog which he loved to talk about. He also worked for Warbird flights in titusville, fl, which he was still doing in his spare time. He was such and role model for me, my rock. I wanted to be just like him, I only had him in my life for a short time but I am thankful for every memory. He always pushed me in the plane. The best friend, the best son, the best brother. My favorite pilot!!!
I felt the need to post this because he was always on here, he introuduced me to the hangar and urged me to use it as a tool, which it is. He spent hours at a time on hear, reading and posting. Reading what everyone posts help everyone from a pilot with no time to one with thousands of hours.
Paul had everything falling into place, he had just been hired with AirWis and had gotten three more inteviews in the next week. He was so happy. He touched so many lives with his kindness and selflessness.
I ask you please think of the family and friends at this time. Your posts would mean the world to Paul.

Paul, you are forever my wingman, I love you!

Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds that follow a storm.
To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the jou the swells within.
To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
and know the warmth of a clear spring sky.
Then back to earth at the end of the day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.
Should my end come while I am in flight,
On the brightest day at a fabulous height,
Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again.
For each of us born is destined to die,
yet with me I know
I WAS BORN TO FLY

I live with many fond memories of GNV. I had the most fun years in aviation there. Made many friends at Gainesville, Keystone, Melrose and Flying 10.
This is all before Paul's time but I bet he was maybe one of the young guys always around the ramp. I always grabbed at the chance to load up my plane with these kids and take them for a ride.
I pray for those that hurt because of this loose.

Wow, really sorry to hear that. Condolences to his friends and family. Just the other night I was laughing at a couple of his posts in the cargo section. :(

RIP, Paul.

Thanks for all the posts, My wingman is reading them with a big smile on his face!!

I had barely known him, talked to him a couple times on the company freq. in the past month. Very sad indeed. May god bless your soul and may you rest in peace young friend.

Moving Violation, RIP and don't cause too much hell for the BIG GUY...LM, keep your chin and stay strong...

It is really hard to understand these accidents...we read about them and study them but they still happen...people make the same mistakes over and over. Why? Is it that eventually we all become careless and over confident?? Do we forget?? Since I lost Paul I wonder everyday why? and how can it be changed? I guess all I can do is learn from this....But why do we do careless things up there?

"To err is human." No matter how well trained or how trivial the action, mistakes can be made. It's just the nature of the beast that in this business mistakes can have dire (and deadly) consequences. It breaks my heart to read this thread. I'm so sorry you lost your friend, C172gal05. I just hope you're doing allright. :(

Thanks I am haning in there!

I left the company Paul worked for shortly before he came to GNV. They had been talking for years about setting up the cargo run he was flying, and they finally got it up and running about a month after I came to ASA. I never met him but it saddens me to think of a fellow Gainesvillain (sic) and Gulf Atlantic pilot going west so soon. Feel free to PM me with any GNV stories; I'd love to reminisce.

Josh M.

He flew at least 5 times a week and at first he was flying 7 till they hired another guy..some guy who worked as a CFI there... He knew all the ATC guys and they knew him....his route was so much fun to fly. He enjoyed his job but as any frieght job it gets to be the same routine and no matter what he was flying... He use to say never check the weather.. it will just scare you!! haha... He had a great sense of humor. I know I will never fly into GNV again without thinking of all the fun times we had!
