I have 9000hrs of Turbine SIC and 1200 of Tubine PIC (C-141B) plus 5 types including the 737 and my SWA application has been deemed "inacitve".

Which do you think is more important?

I understand the concept of PIC, but I have to wonder why AMRcostunit's application at SWA is inactive. I wonder if a human even has anything to do with the initial marking of apps over there or if it is done by computer. I would think if a person saw the 1200 hours of C-141 pic time he would call him in anyway, because all things considered he stacks up very well. I know thats how I would look at it.

Is SWA really strict with the PIC cutoff? Is the initial look at the application automated, like a scantron or something?

I had a meeting with LF in MDW in 2004 and he said 1800-2000 PIC and up was much more competitive at the time. Being a 15 year FO (never got closer than 500 numbers to Captain) and not doing the reserves hurt the PIC time.

I did the online app as soon as it opened in Jan 04 with 1000 as the min PIC. Some time ago it was raised to 1300 min and I received an e-mail that my app status was being changed to "inactive". I'm sure they can just sort the e-apps by whatever field they are looking for.

I would have left AA in a second in 2004 with 12 years for SWA as my Captain upgrade time was better at SWA. With all the hiring since then that probably would not be true today; so AA is stuck with me and I stuck with them. Lovely.

With Age 60 fight and AA's "shrink to profitability" program it seems I am on the PFO track. I'll slide back over to the 777 FO sooner or later and make near-Captain pay for two trips a months on reserve and work on my Plan B and C. I hit 50 in under 7 years and can evaluate early retirement -- if I still have a pension left.

If you can move from TP PIC to TJ PIC that is better, so look for the next job where TJ PIC comes quickly. PIC counts, SIC doesn't, it is very simple.

Nothing is more important then networking. Its not about experience anymore. Its who you know and how aggressive you network.

Who cares how many types you have and how many hours you have flown in and out of the bunk. SWA obviously doesn't/won't consider you. Maybe you should have stuck it out in the Active Duty where all your ratings count.

Or maybe they are just looking for quality guys/gals with L-382 types.
