Thank you for the previous responses on take off or landing from taxiways.
Does any one know if the NTSB would support in court a pilot for landing in a taxiway (with a small airplane) and against ATC instructions, because of strong wind conditions (no emergency announced and without endangering persons or property)?

"Against ATC instructions" and "no emergency declared" - I think answers the question. Hard to justify to the NTSB. Just curious, how strong were the winds and how far away was an alternate?

"Against ATC instructions" is considered a pilot deviation. If it pisses off ATC bad enough it usually gets you a trip to the FSDO with a request to bring your pilot certificates and a match. However, I've landed on a taxiway before, with ATC blessing of course. Just ask, that's what I did and they said "approved at pilot's own risk"

NTSB will not get involved. Since you didn't declare an emergency. You disobeyed ATC. I think your better off pleading ignorance or disorientation rather than stating it was due to the crosswind.
