"Last Wednesday, MEC Chairman Rick O’Leary and Vice Chairman Pat Flannery traveled to Rosedale to attend US Airways Express Division President Bruce Ashby’s quarterly briefing. Mr. Ashby gave an updated projection of Group’s plan to phase us out, with Allegheny projected to operate 30 Dash 8s by the end of the first quarter of next year, down from our current fleet of 41 aircraft. And as was the case with his previous briefings, he offered no options that would bring regional jets to Allegheny, while clearly illustrating Group’s plan to build up PSA and Mid Atlantic. When questioned, Mr. Ashby acknowledged that the rate, at which airplanes will leave our property, is dependent upon projected regional jet deliveries. "

Some key quotes:

"Mr. Ashby gave an updated projection of Group’s plan to phase us out"

and

"he offered no options that would bring regional jets to Allegheny"

30 aircraft by April 2004 will bring us to about 260 pilots. At that point we'll have 120 or so guys on furlough. In April the most senior guys on furlough will have 4 plus years here and junior Capts will have a DOH of 1992/1993 time frame. After April 1st we may loose 1.5 Dash8's per month until were left with 18 in December of 2004. At this point we will have anywhere from 140 to 180 pilots depending on how they staff at that point.

As of OCT 1st 2003 we have 18 guys on furlough.

I'll be on the street sometime early summer 2004.:(

I don't know what you have against CHQ but I have to say...read the post above yours. It nowhere references CHQ - it says ... stay with me - MidAtlantic and PSA.

Sheesh.

Well Lear, I'm tired of swimming. The ALG ship is sinking FAST. I feel like "Jack" at the end of the movie Titanic. It's time for me to let go and drown. My ALG dream is dead. Maybe in my next life?

About time you woke up and smelled the coffee son. Welcome to reality, where it doesn't matter if you fly a C-172 or not, but whether your quality of life is decent, your paycheck arrives in time, and you can support your family.

Hello, this the Allegheny MEC code a phone for November 10, 2003.

At the invitation of Allegheny President Keith Houk, MEC Chairman Rick O’Leary and Vice Chairman Pat Flannery met with the leadership of our Teamster Mechanics, and AFA Flight Attendants, to hear a briefing on Allegheny’s fleet plan for 2004. Houk began by stating that the airline was expected to have 40 aircraft in January, which was two more than originally planned due to the affect that Midway’s departure had on our schedule. The next base reductions are scheduled for February and March, when we are projected to loose one aircraft each month. For the remainder of the year, Houk said that we could expect a staggered reduction in aircraft, ending with a projected 18 aircraft budgeted for the end of December 2004. As to the rumor that Piedmont’s fleet size would stay the same for 2004, Houk said that it was indeed true, and explained that Piedmont’s stability was due to the young age of the airlines’ Dash 200 and 300 series aircraft.
