The "idiots" don't even have a slot for National Operators, which is why most of them get misplaced here. Why would we not expect them to be confused as to where to put any other outfit. BTW, once the door is locked and the before checklist is called for, who really cares about what's in the back paying for the gas?

Well, the difference is: do you need a clear zone established to pee? Boxes don't care that you're in there for 15 minutes on your "daily constitutional.

Fedex, DHL, UPS, Polar, Atlas, are all cargo airlines & belong under the cargo section. The lack of flight attendants serves as a clue.

"...lack of flight attendents"..."serves". I get it, Hahaha :D

That kind of reminds me of the time I went into this one restaurant and asked for a TAB. The waiter looked at me and said, "How can you have a tab, you haven't even ordered yet?!!?"

The whole category thing was done for classification of passenger airlines-- end of story--- revenue from flying passengers. These other companies have revenues from many different products, not one of them is passenger carriage.

Why don't they just simplify it and have Bankrupt and non-bankrupt carriers. Wouldn't that help clean up some of the classification confusion. After all, legacy carriers carry cargo...shouldn't they be in the cargo section as well?

Like that --
We could have the Chapter 11 category
We could have the Chapter 7 category
We could have the "yet to declare category"
We could have major wannabe's category
We could have freight and then packages, then checks categories
We could have the "owned" regionals and the independants plus independants that wish they were owned.
We could have full fractionals, partial fractionals, local fractionals, and people who actually own the whole thing.
We could have general, specific, religious, political, fun, etc

If our moderators are going to be rigid in how they follow their categories then they need to re-evaluate this entire board. The title "Aviation Interview board" certainly requires our moderators to ban any posts dealing with airlines that are not currently conducting interviews.

As a side note, since when did an airline have to carry passengers to be classified as a Major? Do jumpseaters or ramp employees count? Can you be a major airline and not fly out of the domestic U.S. or is that considered a "National" airline?

We were all happy the way it was.

ok.. now i'm confused. my company flys passengers with flight attendants and also has a cargo operation...and there are no flight attendants on board! which section do i belong in? should i post in both? maybe we could have a forum section called "pax and cargo".

this all seems a wee bit anal, IMO.

And to top it off, they're not really a major and bigger than a regional! What to do?

How 'bout "PART 121 OPERATORS," "PART 135 OPERATORS" boards? I think we're all having a bit of trouble with the changed perception of "MAJOR" airlines, despite the simple definition (revenue.)

What about a "scheduled" non-scheduled 135 operations forum with sub forums for non-licensed dispatch v. no non-licensed dispatch operations.

Well, you got a point there....maybe we should have W.G.A.S? and W.D.G.A.S? forums as well.

how about forums divided by what state your company is headquartered in.

or we could just have one big giant forum.. a melting pot... for equality.. and everyone can post in one forum. no one has to ride in the back of the bus.
