It is my strong belief that this was a terroristic EMP attack!

EMP can seriously damage electronic devices connected to power sources or antennas. This include communication systems, computers, electrical appliances, and automobile or aircraft ignition systems. An EMP gun has been developed which can be AIMED at specific areas!

EMP Gun - An EMP gun is designed specifically for the purpose of disabling electronic devices. This can include security systems and droids. Similar in appearance to a normal firearm such as a rifle, an EMP gun emits an electro-magnetic pulse in a straight line towards the target. EMP guns require ammo, and these come in many variants ranging in EMP power. The more sophisticated machines almost always have EMP protection which only the most concentrated forms of EMP can penetrate. The more powerful the EMP ammo, obviously the more expensive it is.
 
So if the plane was in the clouds how did the terrorist see what to aim at? Give me a break. Prayers go out to all involved.

OK, so some punk aimed an EMP gun at an RJ flying at FL410? How the hell did he even see the thing, let along aim anything at it. Especially with the scattered/broken cloud layer. Have fun drinking tonight.
 
When did an RJ Crash in MO? I thought it crashed somewhere else.

Besides, moron, the plane isn't Fly-By-Wire so control isn't an issue. And if we assume all the avionics were knocked out there is this wonderful device called the Mark One Eyeball. It's fantastic for going from Point A to B.

Seriously dude, you would probably be better off keeping the left-field theories to yourself after a tragic accident...just my nickel's worth.
 
Hello all. NO ITS NOT AN EMP. I am in the field of national security, cant explain more, and have experience with this stuff. An EMP would also shutdown all electrical stuff on the ground that has not been "hardened". An EMP is a pulse, kinda like a shockwave that will shut down electrical equipment. A usual EMP will occur after the detonation of a nuclear device. No power outages here in MO, I live here! Nice try though!

In other, more dangerous news, airline management is only months away from perfecting the new Q36ICAM, or Q36 Illudium Contract Abrogation Modulator.

These are also euphemisitically referred to as Bankruptcy Lawyers. Once properly aimed at your contract, total carnage.

obviously there isn't a drug and alcohol program at Jet blue, Dog. It is a nice theory and perhaps it may happen in the future.

If it were the case there would be rj's nation wide coming down like lawn darts. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and acquantances of the downed pinnacle flight.

Actually I would be a bit concerned:

1) The presidential elections are in less than 2 weeks - a non-traditional terrorist attack is likely. (Who ever said terroism has to be a towel head holding a gun to a pilots head in a single location??)

2) CRJ loss of power in MO - Friday night

3) Cherokee in Wis. within 24 hours - loss of power

4) Beech Baron in ATL - crashed and burned

5) JetStream 31 in Kirksville, MO

6) Helio-copter off of Florida coast down tonight - 2 dead 1 missing.

EMP's going off all over the place!!

well,kirksville was like 500 ovc at the time of the jetstream accident. and like somebody else said i think, i dont know how the heck you could hit a jet at 410 if you had one of these magic ray guns anyway. jetbluedog seems to have a very colorful imagination.
 
This thread needs to be deleted. Show some F'ing respect for the crews, their loved ones, the co-workers and friends whos lives have been changed by this. These pilots are DEAD!!!!! This topic about how the plane went down needs to be a healthy one, not some sick joke. I knew the CA on 3701 very well, and I personally find this a total disrespect to him and his family. Please, end this thread....

Actually cables run to the hydraulic valve units which meter hydraulic pressure to the PCU's.

Windmilling turbines would still provide some hydraulic pressure to the non electronic mechanical engine driven hydraulic pumps.

Pressurization outflow valves allow a cabin climb of no greater than 500 fpm and are tested as such in flight during pre delivery.

Fire in the engine combustion chambers is not electronic. So an elctronic pulse should not suck the life from the engine either.

On the slim chance that you're serious, have you considered that a terrorist might want credit for his actions. Don't you think that would be a better way to instill...say...TERROR?

Last wed I had an ITT recorded at 1040 in a PT-6 114 and on thursday my glide slope didn't capture the auto pilot...you may be on to something!!!

Uh-oh, here come the little black stealth helicopters. Seriously though, I think you might be onto something. Tonight while on approach, we couldn't see the airport from above, because someone put some clouds over it. Suspicous, because I think it was a diversion tactic. Also, on my way home from work I saw a little green man with antennas holding what appeared to be an EMP gun. He said it was a ray gun, and he wanted to destroy Earth because it was blocking his view of the moon.

Yep, something weird going on out there.
