You know, it's kind of sad...

When I watched the news blow this whole thing out of proportion, I noticed something very subtle: The network changed the subtitle from "suspects" to "detainees" held in Florida.

You know what was running through my mind when I saw that? I figured Bush decided they're going to be tried in a military tribunal, and they're never going to get a lawyer. (Which wasn't too far from what happened, actually; they were detained for 17 hours having been neither charged nor formally arrested.)

What's next? Border crossings at the states? Visas needed to leave town? Is this really the America you want? Remember this come election time, people.

That is why they didn't have access to a lawyer. They weren't formally charged or arrested.
