This plane is based at Eglin AFB. It replaced the 727 that was here, and it's used as a platform for the numerous in-flight test requirements the AF has. Consider all the new avionics and software that needs to be tested, not to mention missile telemetry, and other beeps and squeeks type stuff, hence the need for the plane.Does anyone know what this 757 is used for?

I met a guy who flies the plane....criminal, free type rating, no long TDYs or deployments, based on the beach.

It's not a "tron" sucker (STS) like an RC-135. But it does accomplish a similar mission.Wouldn't it have a ton of different antennas sticking out of it?

As far as the motors, perhaps the picture is not a picture of the AF's 757.
