I was at Williams in August and there were 2 unmarked 727's on the ramp and ready to go. They were government 27's and they take a haul to mexico everyday deporting illegals. Think of how much money they spend doing that! Crazy.

Does anyone know what this 757 is used for?
This plane is based at Eglin AFB. It replaced the 727 that was here, and it's used as a platform for the numerous in-flight test requirements the AF has. Consider all the new avionics and software that needs to be tested, not to mention missile telemetry, and other beeps and squeeks type stuff, hence the need for the plane.
I met a guy who flies the plane....criminal, free type rating, no long TDYs or deployments, based on the beach.

it would appear to me that the all-white aircraft seem to draw a lot of unwanted (?) attention. why not paint it a different color or design? maybe slap a fake company name on there? or would that cause even more trouble? i would just add a few nice colors, make it look like a very large private jet.

Wouldn't it have a ton of different antennas sticking out of it? This just seems like a plain jane 757. And why is it in Finland? And why does it have RR engines? hmmmm.......

It may be based in Eglin now? But it has been down in Texas near SAT for a number of years previous to this. The guys in the 89th talk about it in hushed whispers so I guess it is on the dark side. RR powered is a little strange considering all 89th's are PW 2000 series.

It's not a "tron" sucker (STS) like an RC-135. But it does accomplish a similar mission.

As far as the motors, perhaps the picture is not a picture of the AF's 757.

The aircraft does in fact have RR RB211's on it. Much better than the PW2000 series engine in regards to reliability.

These aircraft are based in the Northeast at an Air Force base. I know because I just flew into there and they have a few parked. In fact one was doing transition in the pattern. Talked to a few people in base ops.

They have a very important mission.

That's all. Let it go.
