Midwest starting 717 service to MSP

When FL entered MKE we apprpached them about a code share. After all, we're bringing pax to MKE, we had no long-range a/c at the time, and they were flying half-empty planes to the West coast. The shareholders should call for TH's head on a stick.

PS, FL operates the 717 with 117 seats, not 115, and the longest leg you would want to see is 3:30 + alt + reserve.

PPS. Snake lives in a fantasyland. Well, technically it's his parent's basement, but it sure explains a lot.

While you aren't off-base in thinking TH is letting ego and pride affect the company, he is good with the MKE business community. Unfortunately, I don't think the shareholders will oust him anytime soon. Most of the stock is held by institutional investors:

I have no idea what "float" means other than boats floating in the water. I do know 3 BOD seats are up for election on the proxy statement. Maybe we'll get some new blood on the board.

Gotta say though that since we've gotten a new Marketing guy, things seemed to have changed. I don't know if the new MSP service with 717's will work but I'll be a "glass half-full" kind of guy. Doesn't cost me a thing to be optimistic. :D

Just a lowly line pilot...hoping we stay in business.

MKE is that NWA smells blood in the water. (Same reason we are
in IND)

People would like to fly on private jets but what most want is
cheap flights. It won't be long before we here the
"preditory pricing" whine. It is called competition. YX ought to
beat us out of MKE first if they can't do that they will never
do it in MSP. (In my opinion)

Let's talk about what NW is doing in MKE. Increased frequency to major bus. destinations that YX serves. Started out with mainline. That has failed. Now, your commuter is doing it. Your product could not compete. Plain and simple. It won't be long before you downsize in MKE again as you have in the past. Same with Airtrash. They came into MKE and have cut out BWI and only going to the Florida cities on a limited basis. You cannot compete with YX when it comes to service. If it were true, NW would be winning all the awards that MIDEX wins every year for the past 20 years. If given the choice, people will fly YX over NW and Air Trash any day.

I checked our mainline flys MKE non stop to
LAS,PHX,RSW and of course
DTW,MEM, MSP.


The R-Js fly non stop to DCA,LGA,MCI, PIT and YYZ.
If the loads increase they will change to a A319.

For a non hub it doesn't look like it "Failed Plain and Simple"to me.

Some of the flights have shifted to our regional, so what.
We do that all the time. I used to ride the CRJ PVD to MSP
now it is a A319.

I am glad to see NWA "cherry pick" flights out of someone elses
back yard. NWA would never even try it if they did not think
it would be easy money.

Nwa MGT does lots of stupid stuff.
I dont think is one of them.

We, at North Central, went head to head with NWA on the MKE/MSP route with our then new DC-9s some 30 years ago.. Everyone forecast doom for NCA. Well, NWA finally got rid of us....they BOUGHT us. <bg>

Snake has never been one to let the truth get inthe way of a really good rant.

Fact is, Midex has good product, but their pricing is still higher than what most people are willing to pay. Change or die.

As for snake- you can call AirTran whatever you want, but a third year pilot at FL is a 737 CA and a third year guy at Midex is a furloughee. . . . I guess we know the real reason you hide in the dark and hurl anonymous insults at AirTran. Jealousy is an ugly thing, and on you, it's even uglier.

If you think it's sooo bad, buy a ticket / nonrev / jumpseat on someone else.
