Any inputs on Aeroservice career job fare? Was it worth it? A lot of pilots? Did anyone got hired on the spot? Did anyone got called for an interview?
In the last one they claim that 75 % of the people that show up, got a job offer....I wonder how big is the lie...because I know is big!!

I went to that resume seminar that climbto350 had and that was worth it. Good information, good intentions and the best of all....it was free!

Who would say that Colgan Air would have one of the longest lines....

Scube.

I thought it was a big waste. Way too many people, few real jobs available. And I spent a lot of money to go out there.

Yeah, it was a waste of my day.

thank god i came down in the morning and left that night and didn't waste any money on a hotel room.

I wanted to slap the guy from Southern after he told me they'd "maybe give me and interview if I signed up for the 747 typerating course" What a line of B.S. Same with Express.net, i know they are a good company, but the guy taking resumes didn;t seem like he even wanted to be there that day. I did think that Kalitta was about the most honest and forthright company that i talked to that day. I would have liked to visit with the Cathay people but the line was a mile long.

Any other reactions... I was generally dissapointed overall

I got a job from that MIA job fair.

Went down there October 2004, got the interview November 04, and a class date December 2004.
Upgraded to Capt while in ground school, check airman on the B-747-200 nine months later.

Did not know about this company before I met them @ Aero Services.

Your milage may vary.

Waste of time

The set up was such that it made it difficult to move about. Some places such as Colgan did long interviews that took much time. The guy from Cape Air did not seem to excited to be there and Pinnacle try to make them sound like it is a greaqt place to work.

Won't go again

A complete waste of time.....what a fugging joke. EVERY airline that I talked to was merely accepting resumes for possible future hiring.

The ads on climbto350 were completely misleading.....how bout some truth in advertizing?

What do you expect from the guys that run Aero Service.

Will the last American to leave South Florida please bring the flag???

It seem like a lie to me too! If I had to buy a ticket or rent a hotel I would be very upset.
It's not like it was a complete waste of time, but aeroservice ads were completely misleading.

Cockroach Corner

I wanted to go see more companies than I did but the lines were way too long. I got a good response from one company, but am curious to see how the next few weeks pan out. I thought sending a resume and application package to Cathay would do just as much as waiting 2 hours in line.

I would like to know why guys dress up in their monkey suits during a career fair? Saw quite a few there looking stupid. Who wants to look at a uniform when you are not working? Idiots?

Because its easier to jumpseat there and who really wants to carry around a suit to change into on the way from the airport then back into the monkey suit on the way back to jump seat home.
As well as have to carry a garment bag for your suit.

Wouldn't you rather work for a company that cares about your background and experience rather than how dapper you look in a suit.

I find it funny the people walking around in suits like they think that makes them worthy.
It's one thing if a fella has never had a job before.

OK, but you could at least take off your epaulets and ID. JHC.

Why does wearing your uniform make it easier to jumpseat? I jumpseat all over the country wearing a collared shirt and slacks. Just look professional and abide by the dress code policy and it's no problem.

I don't think this job fair is worthless. When I was laid off I got 2 offers from the fair. A friend went last weekend and got offers from Amerijet and Omni. Kalitta is pending until they interview again.

If you are qualified and a U.S. citizen you'll get some bites.

Well so do I and every time I go through TSA lines without oniform I have to go stand in line at the ticket counter to get a listing pass of some kind depending on the airline and airport.

Its just easier and slam right through with the uniform.

I've been hired twice at a job fair with a uniform. How bout u.

I just always go through the employee line in street clothes with an ID. Never had a problem. Don't need to go to an fair yet, have a great job. Maybe you just like the uniform. Do you wear it to the grocery store too?
Just kidding with you.

Well maybe you just go through one airport or are lucky.

At this point dont care about carrying around some regular clothes.
Not going out with the hours we keep anyway.

hmmm...every airport i have gone to in 2005 was very easy to get through jumpseating in business attire. Show your ID to ticket person and security and wammo, standby ticket and no line/hassle at security. Be friendly and professional and there are no problems. Then you don't have to answer questions when people think you work for the airline which is the last thing I want to do while I am commuting. In any case, is it hard to take off your epaulets, wings and ID?

Did I read u say u go waste the time to get a standby ticket.

Bingo.

Yes its hard and a waste of time to make someone like u happy dork

Hey pilot aka "I always wear my pilot uniform pilot", some airports require pilots to obtain a pilot standby ticket for pilots with your name on it to go through pilot security, even through the pilot and crew line if you are a pilot in uniform and a pilot. You being the coolest super pilot should know that. What was your point again pilot? Oh yeah, you do everything in your monkey suit. Maybe you were one of the pilots I saw wearing his pilot uniform at the pilot career fair trying to get a pilot job.

Did any of you, got any job offers? (in this past job fare)

Scube.

It sounds like you have to wear a uniform to get a job offer. Its too bad I shed mine at the earliest possible moment. Maybe I would get more chicks too if I didn't.

I arrived late so I went for the stuff I felt I was qualed for. Amerijet and Pinnacle. Pinnacle offered me a ticket to come interview, said my time was great and check my email that day, no ticket!! Didn't think I'd take it if offered anyway.

Amerijet asked me to come the following Mon for interview. Went to the Amerijet MIA office, spent all day to meet Ch Pilot and finally walked out of the Aeroservice building after Sim Check at 2220 hrs. 3 guys went in after me. Ch. Pilot offered me the job halfway down the ILS. I'd say they hired 10-13 pilots that night. A few went straight to the first class that Wed, most like me will be in Feb 13th class.

Do I think it was worth it? Hell yea!! I'd go to a future Job Fair as well.

Whaoo!, congratulations. At least somebody got some good news.
I think you were overqualified but It is still a good move. I got a friend that started 11 months ago and he's upgrading to captain.

It's too bad the minimums were 4000 hours.

Congrats again.

Scube.

ps: Wearing uniforms off duty is for dorks but hey, if "hmm" got three job offers wearing his uniform, I'll have to show up in uniform with my hat on!! I am sure they won't forget!
