I'm sure MESAba won't have any problem recruiting nice young spike haired kiddys to come fly new shiny CRJ-900s for a new industry low price. Congrats in advance!

And let me guess... You're one of 'em, ain't cha??? Please ask FlightInfo for a refund and scram.

Sincerely,

MM

Let's see, pass a crap TA and be the new Mesa. The butt of every airline joke. I think I would have to pass on that one. Good luck Mesaba. You guys deserve more than this crap sandwich you are going to be asked to eat.

You guys don't make enough as it is now. This is ludicrous.

I agree it is a crap sandwich but throwing stones from Pinnacle, that's ludicrous. You didn't pass when Pinnacle offered you a job or walk off in protest when they hired Gulfstream PFT guys. Throwing stones my friend.

I don't think he's throwing stones. Read some of his other posts. I think he is comiserating.

Well actually I'm not one of "them". And I don't know about you but I have never paid one dime to this message board. And don't get all pissed at me I am simply an observer who would like to see some upward movement in this industry instead of constant steps to lowering the bar.

Thanks Imbracable, you're correct.

I thinks it's a complete shame what these jerks have done to a once proud and well run airline. It's a complete farce and I have a hard time believing that these things have been done legally. If I had any say in the process, most of the moves that management have made would constitute fraud, and they would be tossed in jail. I mean really, does anyone believe they have been bargaining in good faith?

The other side of the story is management themselves. If this TA passes, all those guys will slowly bail out to other companies and take their inflated severance packages(and possibly bonuses too) with them. Meanwhile, the pilots at Mesaba will have to live with the lowest contract in the industry. How is that playing by the rules?

Gosh, I swear I just saw one a few hours ago. . .

so people think you're throwing stones? I say you would take a bullet for Mesaba pilots.

Red. What exactly are you basing your statement from??? Please post proof.

. . . and that's why you voted for the creation of Compass, right?

Compass was created to get scope relief. It would have made more sense for the jets to go to MSA or 9E (lower fixed costs). Mainline wouldn't allow it without a clear cut flowback language to give the seats to furloughees. Obviously, MSA and 9E would hear nothing of it (pilots would want all mainline furloughees to start at the bottom of their list instead of owning the Capt seats on the largest aircraft). This is why Compass was structured the way it was. Purely a way to get scope relief and preserve flying jobs for mainline furloughees.

Wait a second, why does the promise of growth (or replacement as it will be) have any effect on voting in concessions???
Because the F/O's who WERE Captains and are now just barely hanging onto their jobs are looking at that dangling carrot thinking "If I could just get back into the left seat, I'd be able to pay the bills again, build more PIC time, then get the hell out of this hole..."

So that 60% "yes" vote comes across, they get about 1/3 of the growth they were expecting, but it's enough to put those guys back into the left seat, they move on, and remember how they "paid their dues". :puke:

It's the same story played over and over and over again at every regional in the country. "Not one dime" was the slogan I heard for a LONG time,,, I haven't heard it recently.

You gotta do what you gotta do; I hope it's a "no" vote if it's even one DIME of concessions, but I'm not holding my breath... :(

I think Mesa and Mesaba should merge, seeing as how they are about to become equals.

MESAMESAB AIRLINES
-------------------

"We work for less so you don't have to".

OMFG. The next person who compares Mesaba to Mesa will get a virtual evil eye, some voodoo pins, and a kick in the jimmy!

You guys don't even know what's in the TA yet! You don't even know if we'll vote for it!

STFU!

Thanks for the support guys, well when its your turn to make the big decision between pride and putting food on the table we will see how you handle it. Don't count out the XJ guys yet, but the odds are in favor of a TA passing at XJ. If ALPA national wants to start an upward trend in work rules tell them to make it worth our while to vote no to the TA. How about this, we vote no and all XJ captains and F.O's are guaranteed jobs at any of the hiring Major ALPA airlines (Fedex, Continental....and so on ). But let me guess then all the outsiders would be on here complaining how thats not fair either. So what is the answer to the problem? How do we all win or all loose and not by asking 600 guys and gals out of the thousands of ALPA members to hold the bar up.

You forget this is FI ...home of Internet tough guys and know it all's.

"Not one dime" even if it includes snapbacks as the airframes come back? Let's be reasonable here. The company is in bankruptcy. Even though you and I both know that it's a sham bankruptcy, it's still bankruptcy and we can't expect them to come away with zero concessions.

You know my friend, and I know, that this SHAMeful line of events has put a lot of them in a very uncomfortable position and it was done deliberately. KNOWING that is what makes it hard to back off of them even ONE INCH.

But here's the kicker: no one WANTS to be reasonable after the nut-kicking they've been receiving daily since this started. Reasonable went out the door a long time ago, right about the time the judge ruled that the holding company could keep the money away from the people that earned it.

So in order to even have some SEMBLANCE of reasonability, these guys are going to have to see some serious payback as the company grows more healthy, and I don't mean "just back to previous levels", I mean "seats on the Bod, bonuses to flight crews when management takes them, snap-back pay protections based on PERFORMANCE targets, not easily-manipulated RASM figures.

So maybe the slogan can be, "we can give you JUST THIS ONE dime, but we fu*king want a quarter back at the very first showing that you have it to give", then we will continue to earn that quarter again on a regular basis as we perform to these accepted standards.

Give 'em what they want, but make it hurt like hell on the other end and make d*mned sure that "other end" is in the next 2-3 years (short-term).

I hope Mesaba is able to vote for a sweet new TA and grow to boot. They deserve some good news after all this mess ALPA caused. I would have to say ALPA must share some blame for the state of the industry today. Modest contractual gains is the best way to go.

Most of the folks here are not kids. Most of us are over thirty with families. Not this frosted hair/ipod crud I keep hearing people spew on this board.

A+ for the movie quote pickup :D
Yeah, I'm a regular thesaurus of useless information... :D

Thanks, GMSGUY. You guys have some excellent negotiators; I simply hope their hired guns (attorneys and professional negotiators) don't walk them down a primrose path of "this is the only option" kind of thing we've seen from ALPA National reps before.

XJGearbtch, I hear you. I don't even OWN an iPod... I think most of these guys are new-hires straight out of college after their 6 month GIA stint then to other airlines that don't have 3-4 year pilots on furlough like MSA.

I have an iPod, but I don't do the hair gel thing, or the backpack thing, and I don't work for Mesa/GoJet...basically, I just like my music

I
have an iPod but I don't wear my flight jacket on my days off. Come to think of it, I learned how to use my iPod from my Son!

The Avro's are gone... meaning (to those who need literal meaning) they are sold and are just waiting for the pilots to ferry them across the pond. They will never be back at Mesaba again. Guaranteed.

Good Luck XJ! Live to fight another day?! That day is now. Cya,

CP
