Rez, what do you know of the new bk laws?

Hey Hulk, where you trainin' at?

This TA at XJ is tough. The best choice for those who are able to is to find gainful employment elsewhere. I understand that a lot of people have various reasons to stay on at XJ, and those who have left might not understand the reasoning of those who have stayed on. I would love to find a better place, myself. Another regional, however, does not, and never will, fit that description for me, until they dig their FO rates out of the sewers. It's real easy to shout "vote no" from the other side of the fence, surrounded by all that "greener" grass.

I am genuinely interested in where people are going that is better, because I really would like to leave. I'd appreciate if people could keep the "speedy upgrade" smoke to a minimum, however.

Mesaba's management are truly despicable, and they are making wounds which quite likely will be too deep to heal. However, I do not hold the TA against our MEC and NC. I really think that it is the best they could do under the conditions imposed upon them by our current political climate. The best way to address your corporate anger is at the voting booth this Tuesday, and vote to eliminate our current corporate welfare state. I mean, really, do any of you think that the oil giants, with their BILLION dollar profits, need tax relief to thrive? There's a reason our roads, schools, and health systems are falling apart. There's a reason corporate managers are actively encouraged to beat upon their employees. This TA, up or down, ain't gonna do a thing to address the bigger problems.

So who's hiring Mesaba FO's these days?

According to Jane S., they worked with 9E and in the end neither company will have an advantage when it comes to bidding for work. I don't remember the reasons ... just the punch line.

Please remember this is the same lawyer who missed the fact that AWAC did NOT have a new contract with United when we signed the concessions.

BEWARE.

That Jane is one sharp lawyer. I'm freakin glad she works for our side.

You're kidding right? What laywer misses the whole "assumed contract" in BK law? It's an important thing. What did she miss in XJs negotiation?

Just BEWARE.

Amen, I think Jane must have got her law degree in night school. She must be one of the worst laywers ever.

You can go to wyoming and become a shop welder, starting pay is $95,000

Yeah....that would be nice to die at age 55 because of all the sh*t in your lungs from welding all your life. I've never met a healthy 70+ year old that could honestly call himself a career welder.

XJOHXJ, Champion. I'm not sure if its the answer but for now an answer. I live in base and from the pilots I have talked to life is ok. Pay is better than most first year regional pay but they give XJ a run for their money on health insurance prices. They are hiring 4-6 pilots for a december class. I'm pretty sure New hires will have Christmas off. As far as XJ goes, many things outside of XJ play into this TA. Commuting, QOL, and time off with the family rank pretty high. Insurance could be the killer for me. good luck. I

Virtual Road show

As is typical on this forum there are a number of good points and a number of juvenile comments. I would simply suggest that everyone either take in the road show or dedicate an hour, grab a cup of coffee, go to the ALPA website and watch the presentation. The vote is important - the least you can do is make an informed decision... and live with it.

-- wow... that cost me two cents...

funny

And I have spoken with hundreds of NWA pilots over the past six months and not a single one of them voted yes.

yeah, same thing, none of them admit to voting yes, but i sat in the jump seat of a bus and both said they would vote yes because they did notlike the alternative with only being 5 or so years to retirement.

I sort of see their perspective, I do not want to get out of avaition, but yet with no PIC time i cannot really go anywhere and pay my morgage. Yes there are careers out there where i can make the same money, get weekends off, etc, but i think there are better years left once i get out of the regionals........and the regionals suck....truely.....i am not saying my mind is made up, but i am right there with a lot of people when i think of my frustrations level is high, and i want to get on with this crap.....for a couple of more years anyways. who knows what i will do in the end, but i do think the TA will pass given what i heard in the crewrooms.

Compass will soon become a dead company. It has these factors running against it:
1. The Mesaba TA and 9E will offer cheaper rates.
2. Lack of staffing on the employee level
3. Lack of staffing on the management level, will cause distractions to current NWA management
4. The Mesaba CRJ program will be paid to creditors for pennies on the dollar. The ERJ will have to be paid in full.
5. Compass has already resulted in an additional $15 million on top of $30 million given in employee give backs to limit compass growth.
6. Mailine needs 175 delivery slots for 195 aircraft.
7. With the Mesaba TA, there is enough additional capacity on the regional routes to turn a significant profit. Adding more aircraft will not increase profitability.
8. Selling off compass would result in a loss.

3 is huge, starting up an airline using the existing NWA management while they are performing duties for both airlines would have such a negative impact on business, compass would automatically result in negative gains for NWA and itself.

YPF, If I understand correctly, Compass was part of a Northwest ALPA plan/strategy to give furloughed NWA guys jobs. Now that NWA is recalling pilots, does that change anything? I guess my real question is, if there are no NWA pilots around that want to work for Compass, does that let Northwest off the hook for the whole plan?

What will they do with the 36x Embraers they just ordered? I assume there's a penalty for cancelling something that big ???

Thanks :)

Also, if Northwest announced the CRJ900's are going to Mesaba in a week or so, I bet that TA would pass EASILY.

I'm hearing it should pass easily.

If so, I think we should all not try not to shed a tear for Mesaba pilots. If you see one walking thru the terminals over the next few months, understand they CHOSE freely to accept their situation.

To most pilots (Mesamesab excluded) out there, be thankful this Christmas you don't have to go to work every morning breaking your back for peanuts, enriching those unworthy of respect.

What a horrible feeling, not to mention a waste of life.

Eaglefly,Pretty easy for you to ask somebody else to jump of the bridge so to speak. However until we jump together nation wide its waste of time.

Compass will soon become a dead company.

You might want to tell that to the Compass executives that have been meeting with my company for the past week looking to purchase Embraer training simulation.

Anyone that made it to a road show know what the improvments there were to the call in honest policy?
not that is a big part of any of this but man the commute has been rough lately.
The Call in Honest policy has returned to its pre-"capt" Ed version. No longer will schedulers have the option to give away your whole trip (without pay)should you miss your commute. Instead, you will have the right to pick up the rest of your trip when you do make your commute. Much like the current sick policy.

What a callous post.

Eaglefly.. "CHOOSE", is not a good word to use. We don't have much of a choice. You sound like we're chosing cake or pie for desert. The choice is a kick in the nuts or a hammer blow to the head. As much as this whole CH11 is imoral and wrong, its legal!, we have to show some sort of cost savings either way. The current judical system does not help us, our hands were tied and our union did a good job minimizing the financial impact. Our work rules have changed ZERO and I'm taking a whole $1.35 an hr pay hit. When the survival of your company and your families livelyhood are at stake you might have a different opinion.

Geez, How great is that Eagle contract? Hey Pot meet Kettle. You guys have sure held up this supposed bar. I love how easy it is for everyone. BTW, I will be voting no but like the last contract, if it passes, I will stand behind my fellow XJ brothers. Don't worry, our group doesn't go crying to someone else.
