I just interviewed there and man the pay and reserve time isnt too good...Plus upgrade to captain could take forever. There definatly are some better paying regionals out there and with better QOL.

Did Mesaba turn you down? Just keep your chin up and smile during your next interview.

And there really aren't too many "great" regional FO jobs out there. Pretty much all of them are going to pay pretty poorly.

Could you expand your vocabulary beyond the word "SUCKS"

Maybe you could describe what you were told about upgrade, pay, reserve, QOL, etc.

Welcome to the big leagues, junior!

Bigbird,

I'm afraid your conclusions are a bit... biased. Mesaba is FAR from a bad place to work and is no worse than any regional pay wise. Upgrade times are falling as we speak with the introduction of the CRJ's. Guess my conclusions are biased as well...

They still doing the evaluation sim ride over at STP?

Reserve time ??

I only sat reserve for two weeks back in May. F.O. pay seems to be about average for most regionals.

Don't let it get you down, Bigbird.

Bigbird -

It's time for you to look in the mirror. You say that the "reserve time isn't too good. Well, most new hires are off reserve in about 6 months or less, depending on the aircraft and domicile.

As for you, your history indicates your logbooks were stolen and you washed out of training at another airline. Do you honestly think you are that competitive right now?

I think you are a bit jaded. How can you judge QOL when you have never lived it here?

Like I said, time to look in the mirror.

got a ? about Mesaba... any current employees, why do they have the 75 hour in the last 90 day requirment to get hired? someone walked my stuff in yesterday, and i normally wouldnt be worried.. but it was a sloooow summer cfi'ing and i am cutting it close on time depending on if/when i got an interview. oh well guess i cant worry about it now, just hope that school starting monday will help pick that time up. oh ya, guess it didnt help getting viral meningitis for a lil while in there and taking about a month off.

is it that they want to make sure that you have a "current flying job?" and instead just try to "weed" people out by sticking that requirment on?

thanks for any insight!

oh ya, and i guess the big yellow bird woke up on the wrong side of the nest this mornin hugh?

I haven't heard anything about the 75 hour in 90 days requirement.

I got hired on earlier this year and had no current flying job, hadn't even flown in over 6 months.

I have also been online for over 3 months and have never sat a day on reserve.
