This may be elementary to some, but you do know that when you delete somehting from your computer, it's technically not deleted, but reallocated for storage. So what you may think is deleted, really isn't. In the past, when I've had to throw my cpu away, I've removed the HD and soaked it in water overnight, taking it out in the morning to rust. There are a lot of scavengers looking for your identity and such.
It's more fun to sacrafice it in a nice summer bonfire....
