AWACO it's a secret and you aren't in the circle of trust! Great name though! Sigpi, careful with the PIC time if you are loging it on 91 flights SWA is giving a guy I know problems with it. They only thought about considering PIC time in which you actually signed for the airplane. I believe he was working with them for a possible solution but last I heard no dice. I can get further info and let you know if you want.

No worries it's all 135 flying. I have the type rating (big reason why I got the job) but while in the right seat it's still SIC, left seat PIC time...finally

I was lucky enough to get an offer making twice the pay flying small (new) planes around the country. (furloughed in Jan) Toughest part is keeping the ego in check while flying small single engine pistons around. Not sure if I would take a recall, especially given what cutbacks are on the table. I certainly do not want to take a job that someone else gave up for a great reason/principle. I feel that would make their stand less valid. Im not talking about someone who doesn't care but I can't help but think of these pilots that have everything to loose and are faced with starting over. If they decide to leave and make a stand and all these young cut throats come running in, it will only prove once again that management will never reward longetivity and will always attempt to wipe out the pay scales.

Of the regionals hiring, who's got the shortest upgrade, and are the bases feasible for a commuter out of MSP? 9e's an option, but the future of all the red tails are unstable at best. I'd hate to jump from one sinkin' ship to another.

If you live in MSP then you should definitely give some consideration to PCL. As arthompson said, we are desperate for people. Even if we lost flying we still wouldn't need to furlough anyone. Normally I tell people to stay away from Pinnacle, but for someone that already lives in one of our bases it's not that bad.

Well I'd like to say good luck to all my fellow XJ brothers and siters. Hopefully we'll all be better off in the end despite this mess. I can't wait to get back up in the air agian. I've been working in an office since February and it's just not the same. I was lucky enough to get out of there early today and on my way home I watched a CRJ-700 make a tight base to final turn about 800' over the interstate. It made me wish I was flying the Saab again, doing tight VFR patterns in places like TRI, MSL, and FSM.

Do you work for an airplane manufacturer? I've been at the airlines for a couple years now and I REALLY miss GA. The diversity (airports, airplanes), technology, freedom, etc. is something I need back.

I was furloughed from Mesaba back in October (still in ground school at the time). I took the Horizon interview offer and started Dash-8 ground school in January! There are several Mesaba guys here now. Horizon is a good regional with decent pay. Also, there is a rumor of possibly doing contract flying for NWA out of MSP. (How ironic is that?!) Anyway, Horizon is very open to Mesaba furloughs so make sure you mention that in a cover letter! Good Luck.

This proves that good rumors never die. This one has been around for years.

Let's put it this way, Horizion's first flight with a red tail will be a Minnesota Vikings Team Charter to the Super Bowl.

Sorry, but anyone who understands what the real strength of Horizon is does not wish for more contract flying. As the old saw goes: "Be careful what you wish for...."

Here is one for ya. Maybe its already been said. How is XJ going to impose the new contract they are so sure about winning in court from us on the 1st of August, so they say, and then expect to furlough on the 22nd of August and move the rest on Sept 1st. Unless there is a deal made, then there wont be a furlough because the union and pilot group has already voted to strike and will over an abrogated contract. So if we are all on strike whos gonna get furloughed and moved? Any answers to that. Do tell the theories.

They can't get concessions out of you guys if they were hiring.

yeah the horizon rumor, wow, yeah, nwa would cut off its own assets (owning 30% of mesaba) and give the contract to a independant contractor. I do not think they are that stupid, even though i think they are dumb....just not that dumb.

I would bet they would not take flying away from compass......well....good luck to all/.......

I truly don't see Compass materializing, ever. Given NWA's difficulties with running what they DO have, why would they start something new? To create jobs for 800 pilots, 500 of whom will supposedly be recalled in the next year? Just makes no sense.

a 3rd 1113c? I wonder if there is some sort of record....maybe we could put that sticker next to the faded "1997 regional airline of the year".

It's not supposed to make any sense. This isn't meant to be a good business decision. Newco (Compass) is nothing but a tool for NWA senior management to use to build up and sell off in a few years in order to pocket thousands of shares of the new stock that they IPO before they leave NWA and take their big golden parachute payouts. You make the mistake of thinking that this is about business. It's not. It's only about Steenland and the rest of the parasites that run NWA. The absurd amounts of money that they have now aren't enough. They want more.

jumpseated with a dude today who said he's getting the axe in August. I felt bad for him and told him that I hope he hears good news soon. He said he's gonna stick around and hope for the call back...here's hoping.

Drink up

Furloughed Feb. 12th. Waited around for 2 months, couldn't wait (pay the bills) any longer. Just finished training with Chautauqua, it's good to be back flying. Good Luck to all at XJ
