Hmmm,

well thanks to my friends clr4 and dispatch121 for the kind words of support, you among others here have known me for along time, I dont need to say anymore on this...

I will admit that my messages, if not read carefully, could be misconstrued or taken out of context due to the perception of the reader. Its true I was looking for dispatch work for awhile, its true I turned down jobs over pay and cost of living concerns and the very low pay starting dispatchers must accept no matter their level of experience.

As time passed and my interviewing experiences mounted, I tried to report the problems from my perspective, leaving myself wide open to the "homer-virus".. So I guess I brought it on myself..sorry to have bothered those here that may have been offended....

In the final end to my aviation venture, I did accept employment with "my" untimate airline,, and was very pleased to have been with them even for a short time. Of all the airlines I had dealings with as an employee or an interviewee, the HR and management at Airtran were a class act, very caring and understanding...even after my departure...I am medically retired from work. I appreciate the friends I have meet here and continue to enjoy, thanks....and keep them safe....

Oh by the way, its alot easier to change career gears many times in ones life than you might think..you have to keep your options open, and strive to continue to learn new skills......think small, be small....not me!

I guess we can't get back to the original question.

You can all go back to bashing each other now. I apologize for interupting.

Nothing Has Happened......yet

TA was ratified. 6% average paycut...after the cut a payfreeze for 3 years....then a 1-2% pay increase per year for the remaining 3 years. Senior employees will not see what they are making right now even after the six years are up. Increase in the employee contributions to healthcare....50% of premium. Requirement to pay 50% of the premium of long term disability-what ever that premium is. Sickpay paid out at 75%. A total of 19.4% pay/benifit cut. Thats the low-lights. High-light is that we will be going salery. None of this is effective until April 1st or April Fools Day. Also none of this will be effective if we have no pilots, fa's, or mechanics on the property or if NWA strikes.

I hope every Mesaba employee walks the day these concessions become effective. I don't mean strike. I mean just quit. The job can't be worth it after pay pay cuts like that. Any company that has to take that much from an employee to survive doesn't deserve to be in business.

BTW do either Kriss Donker or Dave Rettner still work at Mesaba?

yes Dave Rettner is still with Mesaba....see his name on releases

Half plus 1 of 9E's dispatchers voted in the TWU in August 2005.

Is it normal during initial contract negotiations to be completely in the dark about what's going on?
